Everything I Didn't Say

Friends

Class done.” I pressed sent and put my phone back in my pocket. “Dude!” I turned my head to see who was calling and saw that it was Calum.

“Hey! What’s up?” I shrugged my shoulders and we kept walking to the front doors. “Dude! You would never believe what I got today!” He took his phone out and showed me a phone number.

“Is that Tanya’s?” He nodded his head out of excitement. Tanya was this girl in one of his class that he grew a liking of. “Yeah! I got this. I think I’m in man!” I smiled and tapped his shoulders to show support.

I was happy for him but that never stopped me from worrying about Aislinn. Calum knew about her feelings but a few months ago, Aislinn told everyone that she was over him and everyone seemed to believe her just like that.

How was it?” I read the text and saw Calum looking at it too. “Dude, is she going for you now? She’s 19!” I looked at him with annoyance drawn on my face.

“She’s our friend man. We’re just friends.” I annoyingly replied. Calum never acted appropriate around her because he thinks that if he does, she’ll take it the wrong way. He has always underestimated her and I actually want to smack him for it.

“I heard she stopped by. Doesn’t she have any other life besides our group?” I glared at him for even asking that then sent a quick reply.

“Shut up. She said she was just around the area so she stopped by.” Aislinn wasn’t really the type to make tons of friends. She doesn’t like socializing much but she loves our group. We’ve been friends for over five years now; our parents were all friends from college, which led us from forming our group when we were younger.

“Sure.” His tone was filled with sarcasm even with just that one word. He doesn’t get her; he doesn’t know her well enough to understand what she’s going through. I don’t really question her if she’s making any friends in Uni. If our company is all she wants, then I don’t see the problem to it.

“Anyways, I’ll be leaving now. My ride’s here.” He walked towards his sister’s car and I nodded at him and waved goodbye. I shouldn’t be angered by his actions. I can’t stop him from liking other girls and if one thinks about it, he’s just preventing Aislinn from disappointment.

“This is so hard.” I spoke softly and grunted while sitting down on a bench. The only thing that I can really accuse Calum for is being an insensitive prick but I can’t stop Aislinn either from being affected by everything he does. “Worrying again, I see.”
