Everything I Didn't Say

Closer

*2 days after*

“Luke!” A familiar voice called my name and when I turned around, she was already hugging me even before I can see her face. I was startled to see her here considering the fact that I’m in high school and she’s in university.

“Hey! What are you doing here?” I ruffled her hair, messing it up a bit. I wasn’t like this with any other girl nor were other girls this comfortable around me. I was too awkward you might say. Some say even anti-social but I just like to keep my distance.

“I was around the area and thought why the hell not.” I tilted my head out of confusion and stared at her. “Don’t you have uni classes today?” She shook her head and smiled.

“I wanna go out today and eat!” She rambled excitedly. Although she was a few years older than me, she still acts like she’s five most of the time. “It’s cute that you wanna hang, touching really but I have my last class in 10 minutes.” I explained to her, chuckling a bit as I nudged her toward the front doors.

“But we never go out!” She pouted as I was pushing her. It was hard making time just to hang with any of my friends but with her especially. We were in different worlds and add the fact that we both work on our free time.

“Did you just drop by here just to drag me out and eat?” She shook her head and scrunched her face. It was something that I found adorable; I mean, who wouldn’t?

“Oh, I took my school records from the office. And I ran into Amber too.” She rolled her eyes a bit and showed a half smile. Amber was also a good friend of ours; she was in the same year as Calum and I.

“Well, why didn’t you go out with her?” I knew what she was going to say. Although we all loved Amber, she was a bit of a clingy friend especially to Calum. “You know…I wanted you to come with.” I smiled jokingly after she said that statement.

“Ohh sure. That’s totally the reason.” Amber never really cared what the others think of her or her actions. She was cautious for a bit when Aislinn finally admitted her feelings for Calum, but after a few months she was back to her old self.

“Look, the bell’s gonna ring soon. I’m just gonna text you, okay?” I opened the door for her and she just stared at me with those puppy eyes of hers that I just can’t say no to. “You want me to go?” she asked quietly.

“Well, although you look like you do belong in high school, you know you can’t stay.” She was being like this for a reason. Something’s bothering her and she wanted to distract herself. I know because she’s constantly like this when it comes to Calum.

“Fine, I’ll go.” I waved at her and sighed. She usually is the type of person who goes and fixes her own problems and I admire her for that. And because she does that, not a lot of things bother her too much; it’s really just this whole Calum ordeal.

She never did learn to figure him out and as much as I wanted to help, I can never find the way to do it. Was it really cause I’m clueless on how or was I just preventing her from getting closer to him?
