Everything I Didn't Say
The Usual
“Ohh.” I looked up and Ashton was standing there, quite amused at my misery. “You know worrying about a problem this much isn’t gonna help.” I hissed at him as he sat down.
“What has life offered you now anyways, Mr. Hemmo?” Ashton is also a part of our group but he’s just as clueless as the others. “The usual.” He chuckled a bit and put his feet up on the bench.
“What was that for?” I demanded, confused, and peered at him, shaking my head.
“Aislinn?” His question surprised me. Wait; is he not as oblivious as I thought he was? “You’ve started acting like that when you got close to her.”
My head whipped towards him and I blurted out, “You’ve noticed?” He just shrugged and took a deep breath. “I’m not as stupid as you think I am, Hemmo. So wanna tell me what about her is bothering you?” I still looked at him, wide-eyed with his response.
Ashton took me aback. He wasn’t this serious ever nor was he interested in other people’s problems. Us boys in the group kind of grew up with the thinking of ‘Mind your own business.’
“Do you like her?! I mean yes, she is a very beautiful girl but dude she’s like our older sister.” He stood up as if he was that surprised with the idea that he just created. I quickly assured him, nearly shouting, “NO! We’re just friends Ash. I’m just worried about her.”
“What for? She seems fine and happy to me and to everyone else. Heck, her and Calum even got closer since she said she’s over him.” He was right; although they fight more often now, when they’re together, they talk more casually and naturally. However, the consequence of that was it gave more hope to Aislinn.
“Do you think she likes Calum again?” I asked him, my voice trembling a bit. He raised an eyebrow and thought about the question.
“She doesn’t treat him as special as he was before. She’s more chill around him now.” He gave up and just shrugged his shoulder. “Honestly man, just let those two deal with it. They fight like husband and wife and then move on from it like nothing happened. Whatever the deal is now, it’ll be fixed by itself.” He patted my shoulder and stood up.
“Thanks, Ash.” I waved him goodbye as he walked away. I honestly don’t know what I’m truly worried about. Ash has a point; whatever problem they have, it’s not worth this much worrying.
