Icing on the Cake
Chapter Ninety-Seven
~97~
We arrived home from dinner and decided to play with the twins for a bit then get ready for bed. I looked at my phone.
“The contractor will be here at 9 A.M.” I said to Calum.
“Awesome!” Calum said.
Calum and I had decided to get a swing set/jungle gym to be put in our backyard for the twins. The contractor was going to install it the next morning because there’s no way we could do it ourselves. Calum wanted to try, but I made him realize he couldn’t do it alone.
The next morning, the contractor came and set up the swing set and jungle gym. He was done by early afternoon, and we took the twins out to play on it.
There was a swing set with two regular, older kid swings and two toddler swings, as well as a jungle gym that lead form the swings to the slide, then the slide led down to a sandbox.
If you went down the slide, you could walk forward about one hundred feet and make it to the pool.
We took the twins out to go swinging, and they both poured out laughter as we swung them. Julia, Calum and I alternated swinging them.
Anastasia kept wanting to go down the slide, so I would let her go down, then help her up and help her back up the ladder to the top of the slide again.
Adam wanted to go too, so we let them alternate.
After Adam went down one time, he ran over to the swings. I looked away from him for what seemed like only one second…
“Where’d Adam go?” I asked nervously when I didn’t see him by the swings.
“Oh my god.” Calum said quietly. He looked over by the pool, where Adam was standing by the edge. Adam walked right off the edge, into the pool, into the deep end.
Notes
Sorry I've been MIA.
Tuesday night I auditioned for a play (and was casted yay!) and last night I was stuck at work and my manager wouldn't let me off when I was supposed to be.
But we're getting close to that Chapter 100...
My heart, Oof.
