Icing on the Cake

We arrived at the restaurant, and Michael gave both Calum and I a quick hug. We exchanged casual chit chat for a few minutes until Ashton arrived.

I nervously accepted his arrival. I could tell Calum was nervous as well. He looked like he was ready to protect me in case Ashton wanted to try and kill me again. Gosh, why is it that so many people want to physically harm me? Brett, Ashton…

Ashton asked us how we are. We answered, and nervously asked him how he was.

“Look, I wanted to say that I’m sorry.” Ashton said to us. At the table at the restaurant, Calum was to my right, Michael was across from me and Ashton was across from Calum. “I know that what happened was Megan’s fault. And I’ve always known that.”

“Then why were you so antagonistic towards us?” I asked, trying not to get overly emotional. “Why did you try to kill me?”

“Because you’re gay.” Ashton said quietly.

“So you’re just homophobic?” Calum asked disgustedly.

“I’m not homophobic. I swear, I’m not.” Ashton responded.

“That’s a little contradictive.” I said to Ashton.

I looked over to Michael, hoping he would give me some sort of verbal back up. He didn’t, but I could see him agreeing with me on his facial expressions. I was hoping that Ashton would understand that Michael was agreeing with us.

“I didn’t know you were gay, okay?” Ashton said. “I didn’t…believe it.”
