Icing on the Cake

Mali walked down the aisle, towards Calum and I. She was trying to be cool even though she was boiling over.

I handed Calum the driver’s license as he took Mali into a Sunday School room. I awkwardly stood outside the sanctuary, figuring that it would be best if Calum did this alone.

A few minutes later, Mali walked out of the room, and then out of the church, crying. Calum came out, looking empathetically hurt.

After Mali walked out, Brock…Brett walked out to where I was and violently put his arm over my neck, shoving me against the wall. Panic rushed through me as I felt pressure being applied to my wind pipe.

“YOU’RE GONNA PAY FOR THIS FAG!” Brett yelled. He raised his fist and was about to hit me when Calum tackled him away.

That assault shook me up and I started tearing up. I felt weak in my knees as I held my hand over my throat. My knees gave in as I started sliding down the wall and onto the floor, where Calum was pinning down Brett.

“Why are even you in church?” Brett snarled. “Don’t you know God hates fags?” He then pushed himself up from Calum's hold and stormed out of the church.

Everyone was murmuring and talking. Calum stood up, helped me stand up, and gave me a hug.

“Thank you for protecting me.” I said silently to Calum. “You always protect me. I know I can always feel safe around you.”

“I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you the first time he beat you up.” Calum said back.

I've had the climax, reveal about the climax, and resolution planned pretty much since the beginning of the story, and since Chapter 45-ish the plan has been to have the climax happen at chapter 100, then have the reveal, falling action and resolution happen, making the story about 110 chapters.

Is that what you want? Do you want only twenty some chapters more? I could tie up the storylines and end it, or I could create more storylines and keep the story going. Which do you prefer? End it soon, or keep it going?
