Icing on the Cake
Chapter Eight
~8~
I regained my senses, right away. I backed away, throwing my head away from his, hitting the ground and feeling the throbbing pain.
Calum’s smile suddenly disappeared. “What…what just happened?” he asked.
I became suddenly thankful that none of my family was home. “I just…I just kissed you.” I said.
“Why did you just kiss me?” He asked.
I lowered my head, almost ashamed. “Because I like you.” I said.
Calum didn’t respond for a moment. “Luke…I mean…I’m not…”
“Yeah.” I said, feeling myself start to cry. “I know.” There was an awkward pause. “Do you want to leave?” I asked, offering him an out.
“No, I mean, no I don’t.” Calum said.
“I’m sorry if I just freaked you out or made things weird.” I said.
“You don’t have to apologize. You don’t ever have to apologize.” Calum said.
After we hung out for a few hours, Calum said that he had to go. Knowing Calum as well as I did, I knew he would want to talk to Ashton and Michael about this, and I definitely wanted to be a fly on the wall in that conversation.
I followed Calum out of my house. He walked into a café, and I walked in after him. Ashton and Michael were at a booth, and Calum walked to that booth and sat down. I sat down in the booth next to it, with my back to them. I could hear their conversation.
“Luke kissed me.” Calum said. There was a pause. “You guys don’t seem shocked.”
“We know that he likes you.” Ashton said.
“Oh, really?” Calum asked.
“How do you feel about it?” Michael asked.
“I don’t know. I mean, I’m not gay, I’m not, but it felt…I don’t know.”
“Maybe you are gay.” Ashton said. “If you felt something. Or at least bi.”
“I don’t know what to do.” Calum said.
“What do you want to do?” Michael asked.
“Kiss Luke.” Calum said. My heart raced when I heard that. “I want to kiss him and see how I feel, but I don’t want to lead him on if I’m not going to like him.”
“Tell Luke that.” Ashton said.
“But I’m confused because I’m not gay!” Calum insisted.
“Calum” Michael said. “Stop.”
“Yeah.” Ashton added. “When are you going to admit that you’re 100% gay for Luke Hemmings?”
Calum didn’t say anything for a minute. “Maybe you’re right. Thank you guys, I need to go kiss Luke!”
Calum stood up, and saw me in the booth next to theirs. “Luke?” He asked.
“Yeah?” I responded sheepishly.
“Can I kiss you?” Calum asked.
“I’ve wanted to hear those words for so long!” I stood up, and Calum leaned over to put his lips on mine. Electric shocks flowed through our bodies as they intertwined.
“Awwwwwwwwww!” Michael and Ashton both dramatically said as we kissed.
