Icing on the Cake
Chapter Seven
~7~
My stomach jumped into my throat. I felt sick after hearing that.
“Oh...” I said. “That’s great.” I tried to sound enthusiastic, but couldn’t.
“Is everything okay?” He asked.
“Yeah.” I said.
The next day, I asked to talk to Michael and Ashton after school. I needed to sort this out with them. We went to Starbucks after school.
“What do you need to talk about?” Ashton asked.
“I don’t know how to say it, so I’m just going to say it.” I said. “I think I’m in love with Calum.”
“Mm what sorry what?” Michael sputtered.
“And I simply don’t know what to do.”
“Tell him how you feel.” Ashton said.
“Really? Why? What good could possibly come from that?”
“Calum doesn’t even really want to go with Mimi.” Michael said. “He just asked her because he wanted someone to go with.”
“So?” I asked. “Why should I tell him?”
“He might…might feel the same way.” Ashton said.
“You honestly think that?” I asked.
“Maybe.” Ashton said. “I don’t know.”
“He might want to go to prom with you, too.” Michael said.
“What? He would just dump Mimi?” I asked.
“Maybe.” Michael said.
I decided that maybe they were right. Then I decided they weren’t. I didn’t know what to do.
The next day, I asked Calum to hang out again. I realized that it sucked to not hang out with him, even for just one day.
After him and I got to my house after school, I ran in and locked him out, initiating the game. I ran to lock the other door, but he barged in, knocked me to the ground and started tickling me.
“Say you’re at my mercy!” He demanded.
