Icing on the Cake

Tears of joy filled my eyes as we left the room. Calum and I hugged each other.

“They see us as parents.” Luke said. “It’s starting to happen.”

“I can’t believe it’s happened this quickly.” Calum said. “You were right, Luke. Everything is turning out okay.”

That night as we were in bed, Calum got a text form his sister.

“Mali wants to come over tomorrow.” Calum said.

“Okay.” I said. I had only met her a couple of times over the years, but not having any bad afflictions towards her. “To see the twins?”

“Maybe.” Calum said. “She was vague. And she never explains things through text very well. I’ll tell her we can meet her at one.”

“Okay.” I said. “Sounds good.”

“Feels good.” Calum responded.

“Wow.” I said, trying not to laugh at loud at his super lame but for some reason super funny joke.

“You’re allowed to laugh.” Calum said with a cute, charming, yet smug grin on his face. “It was pretty funny.”

This was the Calum I fell in love with. The Calum that could say the stupidest thing but still make me laugh. The Calum that could melt me with his smile. And the Calum that could make me feel comfortable, even safe, as long as I was around him.

“I love you.” I said to him.

“I love you, too, Lukey.” Calum said to me while planting his lips on mine.
