Icing on the Cake

All five of us were playing together in the playroom, and it felt nice for all of us to get along. It felt like we were a real parenting team.

After a few hours of playtime, the twins were tired, so we fed them lunch and put them down for a nap.

After the nap, we decided to teach them some basic English, and Jenny suggested we use English flashcards that show a picture of an object, then we say the word. That way there’s a visual connection to English words that are being spoken to them.

After they had their nap, we cooked dinner and all five of us ate dinner together. Then, we decided to take the twins to the park.

We put the two in the little kid swings, and we gently swung them. They both laughed and, it was amazing.

“This is nicest park I ever been to.” Julia said to us, with a big smile whenever she heard the children laughing.

We saw the sunset while we played with them, and we walked home before the sun completely set. The twins were tired when we got home, so we decided to bathe them again, since they had gotten dirty at the park.

We decided to put them down for the night. Julia kissed them goodnight, then both Calum and I sat down with them in their bedroom and read them a bedtime story, in very basic English, hoping that the new language would start to stick.

Calum then picked up Anastasia and we both hugged her before laying her down. We then both hugged Adam before laying him down.

“Goodnight my child.” I said as we were about to leave.

As we were leaving, Adam said a word, clear as day, in Ukrainian. I luckily knew what the word means in English.

He said, father.
