Icing on the Cake

The twins woke up shortly after our conversation with Julia. We walked the twins downstairs. Adam was still holding the Barbie he had from the night before, and it was nice to see Julia see Adam with it. Hopefully she could see that it’s not that big of a deal. There’s also not much difference between a chunk of plastic that’s a Barbie and chunk of plastic that’s GI Joe.

After having breakfast, we gave the twins a bath and then decided to go for a walk.

Julia came with us. I’m sure we were a crazy sight to see. Julia was in the middle, holding one hand of both of them. I had Anastasia’s other hand while Calum had Adam’s other hand. We were all five walking in a line.

When we got back to the house, Adam kept tugging at my pant leg, motioning to go upstairs. I followed his lead, knowing he wanted to go back in the playroom.

Wherever Adam went, Anastasia followed. It was really cute that they always stayed together; it was cute to see them stick together.

In the playroom, Anastasia went to the dollhouse and started picking up dolls and playing with them. Adam stared at the dollhouse. From what happened the day before, I figured he wanted to play with the dollhouse but felt like he couldn’t since his mom was standing at the doorway to the playroom.

“Come in!” Calum said to Julia as he walked into the room.

Julia smiled at the invitation and walked in. She sat down, positioning herself between Adam and Anastasia near the dollhouse.

“You can play.” I said to Adam, in both English and Ukrainian, inviting him to play in the dollhouse.

He looked nervously at me, and then he looked at Julia. Julia was expressionless for a moment, and then finally said something with ‘you can play’ in it to Adam in Ukrainian.

Adam joyfully walked over to his sister and played with her with the dollhouse.
