Icing on the Cake

After we finished the first meeting with the wedding planner, Calum and I got a call from our social worker.

“They were just confirming that we have our home study tomorrow.” Calum said after hanging up.

“It’s only two p.m.” I said. “Want to postpone cleaning and getting their room ready and go shopping for some clothes for them? We could have it displayed in their bedroom for the home study.”

“That’s a good idea!” Calum said.

We were driving to the store when I was thinking about the bedroom that we were turning into their room. They would be sharing a room, right away, we decided. We had two beds picked out, two dressers and two baby monitors.

“Do you think we made a mistake not painting the room blue and pink?” I asked Calum.

“No.” Calum responded. “We agreed, we’re not going to endorse hyper-masculinization nor hyper-feminization. That just supports gender roles.”

“I know we agreed on that.” I said. “And I still believe it.” I thought for a second. “But if us adopting is going to be breaking tradition already, is it bad that we are doing it even further? Will people think we’re too radical?”

“It’s color.” Calum responded. “I think you’re overthinking it.”

“Maybe you’re right.” I said back.

I did really like the colors. They were aqua and coral. We decorated everything in the room, from paint down to bedspreads, in symmetrical aqua and coral that was mixed together in certain lines and designs.

“Our decorator did do a good job in that room.” I admitted.

Calum grabbed my hand, knowing that I was distressed. “Everything is going to be okay.”

I KEPT PICTURING CALUM AND LUKE TOGETHER AND THEN THEM KISSING ON STAGE LIKE THEY DID IN THE STORY! (BUT THEY DIDN'T)

I AM SO BLESSED I HOPE I GET TO SEE THEM AGAIN SOON! THEY ARE SO AMAZING AND NOW WHENEVER I'M WRITING I KEEP HEARING THEIR VOICES WHEN I WRITE DIALOGUE BECAUSE I RECENTLY HEARD THEIR VOICES IN REAL LIFE!
