Icing on the Cake

“I still can’t believe we’re doing this!” I squealed as we drove up to the place.

“You’re sure you’re ready?” Calum asked me while placing his hand on mine.

“Oh hell yeah.” I said without even hesitating. “I’ve been ready to do this since you asked.”

“Let’s go plan our wedding!” Calum said. We walked into the event planning office and walked to the receptionist. “Hi,” Calum said. “We have an eleven o’clock appointment with Kandy.”

“Right this way.” The receptionist said with a smile while getting up. “I’ll walk you two right over to Kandy’s office.”

“Hello!” Kandy greeted us when we went into her office. “It’s a beautiful day out, would you like to go outside to our patio to discuss the arrangements?”

We agreed and sat down in cushy chairs on the patio. We were served drinks and refreshments. It was weird because the table we were sitting on outside looked a bit like an office table since it still had a phone on it. It looked like an outdoor table, but it had a lot of other office supplies on it as well, including pen and paper, that sort of thing.

“Shall we start by throwing around dates?” Kandy asked.

“We were thinking October.” I said. I couldn’t shake the feeling of being insecure that I was with a wedding planner for a gay wedding. Maybe that’s why I was wearing my over the top huge Gucci sunglasses.

“We should have the twins by the end of August or early September, so October would be great.” Calum confirmed.

“I’ve always wanted a spring wedding.” I said.

“How about the second Saturday in October, October 14?” Kandy asked.

“I think that works for me.” I said. Calum nodded in agreement.

“Were you looking at an indoor or outdoor wedding?” Kandy asked.

“Indoor venues would be better.” Calum said. This is something we had already talked about, so I agreed. “Weather, you know.”

“Absolutely, I completely understand!” Kandy said. “What I’ll do is start searching for some places after we’re done with this meeting, and then we’ll give you a call to set up a time so we can go look at the available spaces.”

“Sounds good.” I said. I looked at Calum. I thought about the me five years ago, who banged his head on the ground after kissing Calum for the first time. And here I am, planning my wedding with him.

Being a resident of the Northern Hemisphere, it was really damn weird to refer to the month of October as spring. Like, no, it's freaking AUTUMN IN OCTOBER! :P Anyways...
