The music started and the wedding party made their way down the aisle towards the altar. Before I knew it, it was mine and Calum’s turn to walk down.

Before the two of us, both escorted by our parents on either of our arms, walked down, the song changed to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.

Emotions ran through my so strongly I was in disbelief. Somehow, both my parents were on either side of me, supporting me, as I walked down the aisle and all my loved ones were there to celebrate with me and the man that I loved.

I love him. I can’t believe how much I love him.

Soon it was time to give our vows. I went first.

“Writing these vows was very difficult for me.” I confessed. “My love, my passion, my feelings for you are so indescribable, that attempting to put them into words would be a task that I wasn’t sure I was up for. But let me try.”

Calum smiled at me.

“You’ve always been there.” I continued. “There was never a time that you weren’t there for me. You are the only person in the world that I knew I could always trust. When you tell me everything’s going to be okay, I believe you. And it comforts me. You’re the only person who I’ve never doubted. I could never imagine my life without you. And I hope I never have to. I can’t wait to live the rest of my life with you.

Calum’s smile was huge. I could tell he was holding back tears. I was already welling up. He must’ve felt like he had to be the “strong one.”

After a moment, Calum pulled out his notecards to begin his vows.
