Icing on the Cake

Both Calum and I were quite concerned, and it was obvious that the planner was freaking out as well.

“Let me make a few phone calls.” The planner said. “I’ll be right back.”

“Don’t panic,” Calum told me after she had walked out of the room, “let’s just take a moment to look around and see how beautiful this venue is.”

It was a beautiful venue, yes. It had rasperry colored walls that were covered in white cloth tassels and hanging white lights across every wall. It was your perfect setting for a modern wedding. It was very romantic.

All of a sudden, we heard music starting to play. There was a dance floor in the middle of the room with speakers, and we figured they were testing out the sound system.

The song they were playing was “Love Story” by Taylor Swift, and it was one of the songs we put on our wedding dance repertoire.

“May I have this dance?” Calum asked as he put out his hand.

“Are you suggesting that we dance our troubles away?” I asked.

“Why not?”

Complying, I grabbed his hand, and we moved close to each other to start dancing.

“You were Romeo you were throwing pebbles, and my daddy said to stay away from Juliet,” The song sang.

After the song was over, Calum had a look around the room, then all of a sudden had a determined look on his face as he walked to one corner of the room.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

Ignoring me, Calum continued to walk around the room, placing his hand gently on each table and mouthing numbers.

He did this for about two minutes until he got to the other side of the room.

“There’s forty tables, not including the bridal party table.” Calum said. “At eight tables each, that’s 320 people.”
