I couldn’t believe she said that. It really made Calum mad, and he was about to boil over.

“Yeah, she does.” Calum said. “And these homosexuals are the ones that paid for your ticket out of hell, so feel free to thank us.”

“Calum,” I said quietly, grabbing his hand to try and calm him down.

“I’m sorry for the outburst.” Calum said halfheartedly.

The next morning, I felt like Alina was glaring at us constantly. After breakfast, Anastasia and I were sitting on the couch and I was reading a book to her. Alina was in the chair next to the couch in the living room.

Adam came running down and jumped up on the couch. “Can we go swimming?” He asked excitedly.

“Adam, I’m reading Anastasia a story.” I said to him. “But if you go upstairs and put on your swim trunks, we can go after I finish the story.”

“Yay!” He yelled as he darted upstairs.

“Do you want to go swimming too?” I asked Anastasia.

“Yes!” She quietly exclaimed as she abandoned the story and ran upstairs after Adam.

I was getting up to change myself when Alina chimed in to put in her two sense.

“Why do you always give them what they want?” Alina asked.

“Excuse me?” I asked. “Where did that come from?”

“Just now. Letting Adam go swimming.”

“It’s nice out, we have a pool, it’s exercise. I don’t see what the problem is. It’s not like we don’t have boundaries. They know they can’t go swimming unless one of us is with them.”

“One of...us.” Alina said back.

“I think it’s time that we get you a job so you can get your own place.” I said, as nicely as I could. “We already have three parents in this house, and we don’t need a fourth. We are not some weird form of bisexual polygamy.”
