Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Eighty
~180~
Since Alina’s flight was right away, she would be coming in at 2PM the next day, which happened to be almost the exact time Gabriel would be coming home.
We decided that Julia would take a cab to the airport to pick up Alina, and Calum would go to the hospital to bring home Gabriel.
I would stay home with the twins.
It was a little after 2 in the afternoon, and I was at home alone with the twins. We were upstairs in the playroom.
My phone dinged, letting me know that Calum was home. Since a lot was happening today, with two new people coming home, I went downstairs and left the twins upstairs to continue playing like normal.
I went downstairs and out into the driveway. Calum was unfastening Gabriel from the car seat, and I was getting all of his equipment we would need out of the backseat of the car.
Gabriel was so tiny in Calum’s arms.
We brought Gabriel upstairs. He was sleeping, and we put him in the crib that we set up in our bedroom. Just as soon as we got settled in, we heard the front door open.
Julia and Alina are here.
“Let’s go meet our children’s aunt.” Calum said as he turned on the baby monitor base and grabbed the receiving end as we left.
We stopped just to check in on the twins who were still blissfully ignorantly having fun together in the playroom.
“This is my sister, Alina.” Julia said to us as we got downstairs.
It was almost startling how much Alina looked like Julia. They were almost completely identical; the only difference is that Alina’s hair was darker.
“Oh my God.” Alina said once she saw us. “You really are living with homosexuals.”
