Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Seventy-Nine
~179~
“Gabriel gets to come home tomorrow!” Calum said to Julia and I, who were having breakfast at the table, after he got off the phone.
Overloads of excitement came over all of us as we jumped up and down and had a group hug.
“I have a question.” Julia said after a few minutes.
“What is it?” I asked her while taking a bite of my omelet.
“I know it’s lot to ask,” Julia started, “My sister, Alina, in Ukraine is…what’s the word…struggling. She get fired and her town is not safe anymore. Can we…bring her here?”
“To…live here?” Calum asked.
“Only for little bit. We bring her to Australia, she live here before she get job and a place to live. Can we do that?”
There was a pause. Neither Calum nor I really knew how to respond in that moment.
“I know it’s lot to ask.” Julia said. “I haven’t seen Alina in two year. I miss her so much and she need help.”
“Of course we can help her.” I said. There was no way we would ever say no to this. “I’ll go online and buy a plane ticket for her.
“Thank you so much!” Julia exclaimed.
“Hey, you had our baby. We kinda owe you one.” Calum added.
I already had my laptop up and was on Expedia™ ready to buy the tickets. “I can get a flight for tonight.” I said. “What city should the flight be out of?”
Notes
I'm sorry it's been so long I've had a lot of Crazy $hit™ happen to me recently, it's finals week, and my mom is having surgery tomorrow, but I will try so hard to start being more regular again!
I hope you all are doing well!
My heart, Oof.
