Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-One
~151~
“CALUM!” I screamed in the most bloodcurdling scream I’ve ever made.
I dropped to the ground, and immediately wrapped the flag I had in my hand around his wound, which was just above his right knee.
Everything happening so fast, I heard another gunshot. I saw who I assumed to be one of the security agents shoot the assailant in the head. I let out another scream, having just horrifically witnessed a person being shot in the head.
Another security agent ran over to us. I moved aside as the person started tending to Calum’s wounds.
It felt like forever, but it also felt quick, but some time later, an ambulance came. They put Calum on a gurney and put him in the ambulance. I jumped in with him.
We were at the hospital. He was taken into a room I wasn’t allowed into.
I kept nervously pacing up and down the hospital hallways, not knowing what to do. It was killing me to not know anything.
To my surprise, I saw Michael and Ren come running up to me.
“We heard what happened!” Michael said to me.
“Luke, we’re so sorry!” Ren added before giving me a hug to comfort me.
“Luke where is he?” I heard another voice say behind me. I turned around to see it was Mali.
“Surgery, I think.” I responded to her. “They took him into the room over there and wouldn’t let me in. The receptionists won’t tell me anything since I’m not family and we’re not married yet.”
“They told me,” Mali answered, “That he’s in surgery and that I should wait here. The doctor will let me know when he knows more.”
A doctor then came out of the doors that I wasn’t allowed back into. “Mali Koa Hood?” He asked.
“That’s me.” Mali answered, almost hysterically. “How is my brother?”
