Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty
~150~
“Showtime!” Amanda said to us as the parade was about to start.
I grabbed Calum’s hand. “Let’s do this!” I exclaimed.
Calum smiled at me as we walked towards a street.
We were given the banner, and a bunch of people stood next to us to also hold the banner. Calum was to my left.
We started “marching” as other people joined in behind us. We kept walking down the streets. It seemed like there was a lot of media there, taking pictures and videos.
There was also a lot of people on the sidewalks cheering us on.
I felt so excited, so fulfilled, so purposed doing this. I was taking a stand for something I believe in, and that feels good.
I noticed that about a block down, there was someone who wasn’t cheering, and was just looking straight forward, looking a little angry.
Once we got about a hundred feet away form this person, I noticed it was a guy in his early 30s. He looked mad.
I couldn’t believe what happened next. It so surreal. It was one of those things you see in movies. But you never expect to see them in real life. And when you do, it’s terrifying.
This guy pulled out a gun!
Immediate mayhem ensued, and in just seconds people started screaming and running away from him.
Before I could even react, I heard a gunshot.
I heard a scream right next to me.
Looking down, I saw Calum lying on the street, blood pouring out of him.
Calum was shot.
