Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Forty-Nine
~149~
“I’m sorry.” Amanda said to us after we told her that Megan was there. “But I can’t remove her.”
“Why not?” Calum asked.
“She hasn’t done anything wrong and she’s allowed to be here if she wants to.” Amanda explained.
“I can’t believe she’s here.” I said. “I think she’s going to try something.”
“I’ll let security know.” Amanda said.
There was a pause.
“May I ask a personal question?” Amanda asked.
“Go for it.” I said, still feeling perplexed.
“After Megan did what she did…” Amanda said, fully knowing what went down after Calum and I came out, “Why didn’t you sue her? Or the record company? You know, for discrimination… against your sexuality.”
“We couldn’t.” I said.
“Why not?” She asked.
“They technically didn’t do anything wrong.” I explained. “They owned our name, our record labels, and they aren’t’ legally required to give us another contract for a new tour. We could never prove it was because of our sexuality. Employment is at will, you know. The employer and the employee both possess power to end employment.”
Amanda nodded sympathetically, then went off to warn security about Megan.
Notes
Tomorrow will be the most unbelievable moment in "Icing on the Cake" history.
