Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-Two
~152~
“We had to do an emergency surgery to remove the bullet from his leg.” The doctor explained. “We were afraid it would hit a vein and make its way to his heart.”
“Were you able to remove it?” Mali asked.
“It was removed, and now he is in recovery.” The doctor answered.
“Will this cause any kind of permanent damage?” I asked.
“He’ll have to walk with a crutch for about eight weeks, but with physical therapy, he should be fine.” The doctor said. “Your brother is very lucky.” He then said to Mali.
“When can I see him?” Mali asked.
“Not until tomorrow morning.” The doctor said. “Go home and get some sleep. Come back in the morning.”
Michael and Ren left, and I saw Mali go and sit down in a chair in the waiting room.
“You’re staying?” I asked her.
“I’m not leaving.” Mali answered. There was a pause before she continued. “Did you see who did it? Who shot my brother?”
“Some guy in a hoodie.” I said. “A security agent shot him in the head immediately after he shot Calum.”
“Good.” Mali said. “Hope the bastard’s burning in hell.”
“I hope so, too.”
