Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Forty-Four
~144~
We got home to see Amanda sitting in our living room.
“Hi.” We said awkwardly, not knowing how our publicist got in our home.
“I let her in.” Julia explained, also in the living room.
“What’s up?” Calum asked Amanda.
Amanda looked like she was a little concerned but was trying not to be. “Have you been hearing…the news?”
Calum and I looked at each other, concerned.
“No…” I said.
“There have been a lot of…” I could tell that Amanda was struggling to say this, “Threats. There are terrorists that are threatening this pride event.”
Calum and I looked at each other worried.
“I don’t want you two to be concerned.” Amanda said.
“You tell us that there are terrorist threats against us and you don’t think we should be concerned?” Calum asked.
“They’re probably just that, threats.” Amanda explained. “Terrorists rarely say what they’re going to do before they do it.”
“Still…” Calum said.
“We have a lot, and I mean a lot of security coming to this. “We have Australian National Security monitoring this and we will have national guard members present. We know that you two are the big names that are attracting attention to this, and keeping you two safe is of the highest priority in this event.”
Calum looked at me. “This is the bad feeling I had.”
