Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Forty-Two
~142~
“I’m into it.” Calum said.
“Really?” I asked. “Because we had an interview to drum up publicity for it but you choose to stay at home and watch sports.”
“It’s a big game!” Calum said.
“You could have put it on DVR.”
“And Ben wanted to come over.”
“He could’ve come over for any other game.”
“What’s the big deal, weren’t you able to handle it yourself?”
“That’s not the point.” I said. “Are you into doing this or not?”
“Not really.” Calum confessed.
“Why not?”
“I just don’t see the big deal.”
“In standing up for our rights? Calum, we have suffered through discrimination our entire lives and you just want to sit back and let that happen? Let people like Mr. Strands say we can’t go to prom or Megan end our careers?”
Calum was silent for a moment.
“Why don’t you want to fight for this?” I asked.
“I do.” Calum responded solemnly. He grabbed my hand. “This means a lot to you, so it means a lot to me. Tomorrow, I’ll be at that interview.”
