Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Eight
~138~
I was still super excited when we got home that day. We had our first interview scheduled for the next day.
“So…you’ll wear the gay pride rainbow shirt and I’ll wear the trans pride colors shirt?” I asked as we got inside.
Calum got an uncomfortable look on his face. “Really?” He asked.
“What?” I asked back. “You wanted the trans pride shirt?”
“No.” Calum said staunchly. “Isn’t that a little much?”
“No.” I said, trying to be as delicate as I could. “I don’t think that over the top pride is too much. We’re here to show pride, and maybe get some progressive legislation.”
“Since when do you follow legislation?” Calum asked.
“Since it directly affects the rights we have.” I said back. Why wasn’t he into this?
“But we can have a legal union.” Calum said. “We’ll have the same piece of paper and legal advantages that anyone else will have.”
“Is that all our wedding is to you?” I asked. “A piece of paper and a legal contract?”
“Of course not!” Calum said. “And I’m all for pride but why are you trying to push around our Parliament?”
“Because we deserve equality.” I said.
“Okay. I’ll respect that.” Calum said as he walked into the kitchen.
What does that mean?
