Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Six
~136~
Two days after Christmas, our publicist asked to have lunch with us to discuss a potential future opportunity.
We called Michael and Ashton, but neither of them had heard from the publicist, so we had no idea why our publicist would have an opportunity just for us.
Ultimately, we decided to just go to the lunch to see what she had to say.
“She’s been our publicist for years.” Calum said on our drive to the restaurant. “And I still can’t remember her last name.”
“I kind of do.” I said. “But I know I wouldn’t pronounce it right and I definitely couldn’t spell it.”
“Amanda. We know that. Her name is Amanda.” Calum said.
“Her last name shouldn’t be too relevant.” I reassured.
We got to the restaurant and sat down at the table that Amanda was at; she had already arrived.
“What’s the opportunity?” I asked after a minimal amount of small talk.
“The Vice-President of an LGBTQ+ foundation that is located in Sydney gave me a call a few days ago.” Amanda explained.
“Okay…” Calum said.
“Long story short, Parliament is debating a new bill that would legalize gay marriage. It’s a fully inclusive bill and it seems like a long shot. But that’s not stopping LGBT foundations all around the county from making some noise.”
“How does this involve us?” Calum asked.
“They want you two to be the face of and lead a pride parade next week.” Amanda said.
My heart, Oof.
