Icing on the Cake

“This is the layout of the venue we have decided on.” Kandy, our wedding planner said to us as she showed us the floor plan. “Now we need to discuss what sort of set up we will want.”

“Okay.” I said, neither of us really knowing what we would want.

“Generally, the aisle will be here while the seating is on either side.” Kandy explained while showing us.

“That works for me.” I said, looking at Calum.

“I’m fine with it.” Calum confirmed.

“Alright, and now let’s talk about the reception.” Kandy said. “What sort of color scheme were you thinking of having?”

“I really don’t know.” Calum said, clearly frustrated and seemingly unwating to be there.

“Can we just take a break for a second?” I asked. “Sorry, I know that’s an odd request.”

“Oh, that’s fine.” Kandy said. “I need more coffee anyway.”

Kandy stepped out of her office, leaving Calum and I alone in there.

“What’s wrong?” I asked Calum.

“I really wanted Mali to be here.” Calum said. I remembered him mentioning that she was going to be coming with for our meetings with the wedding planner, but after what happened the night before, she didn’t show up. “She would’ve had opinions on everything, she would’ve known exactly what colors to do, and they would’ve been perfect.”

He was right. Her sense of style is on point.

“We need to go talk to her.” I said.

“It wouldn’t do any good.” Calum responded.

“We have to try.” I said. “We have to try and get her to believe you, her brother, over anyone else, especially him.”

“I can’t believe it. That asshole is taking everything from us.” Calum said.

We wrapped up our meeting, and Calum called Mali on the phone to try and resolve their issues, to no avail.

“We just have to prove that Brock is a piece of shit.” Calum said. “That’s the only way to get my sister back.”
