Icing on the Cake

“I’m so sick of this constant emotional stress.” I said to Calum as we were eating. We decided to still barbeque for the five of us.

Later that night, I got in the steam shower. I turned it to the hottest setting, and just sat down in a corner of it, putting my knees up and putting my head between my legs.

After a few minutes of this, Calum knocked on the door of the steam shower. “Can I join you?” He asked provocatively.

I didn’t say anything for a minute. “Is everything okay?” He asked.

“We got everything we wanted, right?” I asked.

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“We wanted to be a popular band.” I clarified. “We got that. We toured with One Direction, we got two headline world tours. We wanted to be together. We got that. We wanted children. We got that. We got everything we’ve always wanted. Then why is our lives, total crap?”

“I don’t think our lives are crap. I think, like everyone, we have challenges to deal with. Everybody’s got their demons.”

“What if it all never happened? What if our ‘dream’ didn’t come true? What would have happened?”

“We would have gone to college.” Calum said. “We would have spent another four years after high school studying, partying. I would’ve been in choir and you would’ve played football. Maybe things could’ve worked out. We could’ve still gotten married, had kids, gone to our basic jobs everyday. It would’ve been boring.”

“And now it’s crazy.”

“I’d take crazy over boring any day.”

“You’re probably right.” I said.

A moment passed. “Now suck my dick and I’ll suck yours.” Calum said.

“Wow, that was classy.” I shot back, sarcastically.

“Classy is boring.” Calum said. “Neither of us like that.”
