Layne’s POV
“Katie!’’ I yell out towards her bedroom as I shut the door.

I soon hear her footsteps as she runs in here to me. She stops and holds her hands up.

‘’Is it a letter, from Daddy?’’ She asks, jumping up and down with a huge smile on her face.

‘’Yep.’’ I nod as I bend down to her level. She holds her hands over her mouth, still slightly bouncing up and down from excitement.

I open the pink envelope and take out the folded piece of paper. I unfold it gently and clear my throat to read it to her.

‘’ Dear Katie, Daddy misses you so much angel. I wanted to tell you that soon Daddy can come and see you. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Anyways, I don’t know for sure if I can make it on your birthday, baby, but Daddy’s gonna try really hard to. I can’t promise anything yet. But, I’m going to send you a present that Nana got you. You’ll love it, baby. When you get this letter, I’ll be getting ready for an interview in London, wishing I was with you, Princess. I love you so so so much, no matter what. Call me when you get this, okay? Love you!

I smile as Katie snatches and runs to her room. She keeps all of the letters he sends. I guess I don’t understand the effect they have on her little heart. I just hope he can make it for her birthday, but I’ve learned something about Harry… you can’t always depend on him or what he says at times..

“Katie, do you wanna call Daddy?’’ I ask as I enter her room.

‘’Oh, yeah!’’ She nods as she climbs on to her room and sits with her legs crossed.

I sit down beside her and dial Harry’s number on my phone, putting it on speaker. It rings for a little bit, but not long. Of course. He answers.

‘’Hello?’’ He says. Katie’s eyes light up as she stares at the phone.

‘’Hi Daddy!’’ She squeals with a smile.

‘’Hey, Baby. Did you get Daddy’s letter?’’ He asks her.

‘’Yeah, I just got it, Daddy..’’ She replies.

‘’Well, what are you doing, Babe?’’

‘’I was watching TV.. and in a few minutes I’m gonna do you a letter.’’ She smiles.

‘’Yay! I love getting your letters, Princess.’’ He says, making her giggle slightly.

‘’I know.’’

‘’Is Mommy with you?’’ He says, curiously.

‘’Yeah, she’s sitting beside me.’’ She tells him.

‘’Can I talk to Mommy… in private?’’ He says, knowing I’m here.

Katie looks up at me, I nod to her.

‘’Yeah.’’ She sighs, disappointed a tad.

I turn off the speaker as I exit Katie’s room. When I talk with Harry, I never do it in front of her. We discuss things that she shouldn’t hear.

I sit down on the couch as I sigh, ready to start this conversation.

‘’Hey.’’ I mumble into the phone.

‘’Hey, Love.. um.. I needed to ask you something.’’ He says.

I missed his voice. I miss everything about him. But I get almost all of that stuff from Katie. The hair, the eyes, the dimples, the personality..

‘’What is it?’’

‘’Well, I’m off for a few weeks.. and I was planning on coming on her birthday. Do you want me to come a little early? Or what? I can.. I was just seeing what you wanted to do.’’ He says.

‘’I guess, if you want to..’’ I say.

‘’Okay, I might. I’ll check in if I know exactly what I’ll do. But anyways, is she doing okay? Still healthy? Still beautiful?’’ Harry asks me, always so concerned, but I guess that’s a good thing.

‘’Yeah, she’s fine. She had a cold a couple of days ago. But other than that, she’s okay. And yes, still beautiful as ever.’’ I smile gently to myself.

‘’Good, I’m glad everything’s okay. Have you gotten the check yet?’’ He asks me.

‘’Yeah, I got it yesterday. You need to stop sending so much, Harry.’’ I sigh out.

‘’Why?’’ He laughs slightly.

‘’Because, we don’t need all of that. We never use all of it.’’ I tell him.

‘’So, you keep it don’t you? Just keep what you don’t use. It doesn’t effect me, love.’’ He assures me.

‘’Its just, you act like she starves, Harry. I don’t need that much all at once.’’

‘’Layne, please. Just.. stop this. We do this every time we talk.’’

‘’Well, shit, Harry. That’s all you ever ask about.’’ I say, a little annoyed at him right now. Trying to blame this on me.

‘’I’m not going to argue with you.. I’ll call when I know what day I’ll be there.’’ He sighs out lightly.

‘’Okay, whatever.’’

‘’Layne.. don’t be that way.’’ He mumbles.

‘’Okay..’’ I roll my eyes to myself and sigh a little.

‘’If you need anything, just call.’’ Harry says, like every time we talk.

‘’Okay. I know.’’

‘’I love you.’’ He whispers gently.

I swallow the lump in my throat. What I’m about to say may or may not be true, I don’t know for sure any more..

‘’I love you, too.’’ I whisper back, ever so lightly.

‘’Bye..’’

‘’Bye.’’ I hang up before I could take a breath again.

Harry loves me. I know he does. He always have. But I don’t know if I love him any more.

Soon after I gain my strenght again, I go into Katie's room and she tells me what she wants to say back..

Daddy,
I miss you too. Me and Mommy can't want to see you. Hurry up, 'cause I miss you so much. I love you Daddy, with all of my heart.
