I'm Coming Home

Prologue

My life is full of ups and downs, the goods and bads, the wrongs and rights. But there was nothing more important to me than my daughter. My love story is a little screwed up, and its hard to explain exactly how it all happened. But I’ll try.

I was sixteen when I met this amazing girl named Layne. She was only fourteen at the time, and we all know that must have been a sin to her family for her to even talk to me since I was older. But that didn’t stop her.

I met her when she was on a vacation to London. She would tell her mom that she was going shopping, but really, she would come meet up with me. We done things no fourteen year old should do. We done it several times. Until... that night.

One night, that same summer, in July, I got a call from her. She sounded like she was in so much pain. I was worried beyond limits. She was throwing up and her stomach hurt. She was getting unusual cramps and pains in her abdomen and her in her lower back.

When her mom and her aunt figured it all out, they immediately asked her what she had been doing. She told them, out of force, and she tried her very best to convince them she was sorry for it, but yet, she still loved me.

At the time, I didn’t think I knew what love was. But know, since I’ve been living this way for five years, I’m okay with the fact that I’m in love.

Its just that I’m not there with my daughter. She knows me, of course she does. I try to visit as much as I can. But its so hard to get free time now a days. But when I get a break, I hardly ever go to London. Instead, I go to Memphis.

My daughter’s not in London, therefore, its not my home. Home is where the heart is, right? Okay then.. Memphis is my home. That’s where the heart is.

My little angel’s name is Katherine Grace Styles, but she goes by Katie. I call her princess most of the times though. And we have a special thing we do when I’m away. I write her letters. Of course she can’t really read yet, so Layne reads them to her.

And she’ll tell Layne what she wants to say back, and Layne writes it. I call, too. And message. And skype. And all that stuff, but seeing her in person.. is the best thing.

Its now May, and her birthday’s coming up. Its on the 10th. I’m going to surprise her. I’m coming home. She doesn’t know, neither of them know. But Katie’s gonna be so happy when she sees me walk through that apartment door.

And let me tell you, May 10th just can’t come fast enough..
