Tricia’s POV

I sat here in the middle of the courtyard with my head in my knees. How could I have been so stupid to let him back in my life? He lied to me saying that he loved me, but instead it was for a bet, a stupid bet. It’s been a couple of hours since I found out. If people found out, I’ll definitely be made fun of. I’ll be the joke of college. Why didn’t anybody warn me about college?

“What’s the matter?” A voice asked. I looked up and saw Liam. The worry in his eyes and confusion.

“Your worthless piece of shit friends, Zayn and Niall.” I said.

He sat down next to me and rubbed my back. “What did they do?”

“They made a bet to see who can date me first and that’s the only reason why Zayn dated me. I feel so stupid.” I cried. I put my head on his shoulders.

“What am I going to do with them?” He mumbled to himself.

I lifted my head up to meet with Liam’s. “Can you please not tell anybody about this? I don’t want to be laughed at.”

He nodded. “I’m going to talk to them and get to the bottom of this. Do you want to come with me?”

I nodded. I wanted to hear their stupid excuses and explanations. I stood up and so did Liam. Our hands intertwined and it felt good. I felt protected and safe. Liam and I walked all over campus until we got to his dorm. He opened the door and Niall and Zayn were sitting talking. They looked up when the door slammed. They didn’t look at Liam, they looked straight at me.

“What do you want?” Zayn asked. The question was directed towards me.

“I want to talk to both of you.” Liam said, walking over towards them. He pulled me with him. “Why did you guys make a bet to see who could date Tricia first?”

Zayn and Niall looked at each other, then up at me.

“Look, Tricia, we were just talking about that and I realize I was wrong. I told Zayn how much I liked you and he put it upon himself to be in competition with me for you. I’m sorry.” Niall said.

“Save the stupid explanations. I can’t believe you guys would do that to me. I’m a person, not a prize. I don’t think I can ever forgive both of you for what you have done. I feel used and hurt.” I said. They both looked down at the ground. “I’m just going to be leaving now. I’m not needed here and I won’t be used as a token or a prize.”

I walked over to the door, but am grabbed by my arm. I turned around and Liam was close. He handed me a paper.

“Call me anytime you need any help.” He said. I smiled and nodded.

“Thanks, Liam. I’m glad I can count on you.” I said. “Talk to you later.”

“Alright.” He said and I walked out.
