3 months later
I was sitting in my room finishing up some homework, it was the last week of school then I was off for a couple weeks before going off to the University. Then I heard music playing out of my window, not from a stereo though, it was real singing. I stand up and wonder over to the window and see Liam, Harry, Niall, Louis and Zayn all standing on my lawn singing “What makes you Beautiful”. I haven’t seen Liam since the finals, he had a lot of stuff to do like recording songs, making music videos, and going to interviews, so he hasn’t had much time to hang out with me. He calls me at least every other day to inform me of what he is doing.
“Liam! What are you doing here? I thought that you had to practice today?” I scream out of my window. I looked like crap my hair was messily French braided and I decided not to wear makeup and a large sweatshirt with leggings.
“I am practicing. I am practicing singing in front of an audience!” Liam said smirkingly. “Besides the boys here missed you, and I haven’t seen you in 3 months”
“Well get off my lawn then and come in the house! You know where the key is so just come up to my room” I left the window and hurriedly made my bed and threw my clothes into the hamper. I stand back and look at my room, well it is as good as it is going to get.
Harry and Niall busted into the room and plopped down on my bed. Liam strolled over and sat in my desk chair by my pile of books and homework. Louis and Zayn just stood there awkwardly for a moment then moved over to the bay window where there was a bench.
“Hey babe, come lay down with me and Niall” Harry said as he dragged my arm and made me fall between him and Niall.
I started laughing and struggled to an upright position. “How are you guys?”
“Completely fantastic! We finished recording the first album today!” Harry stated as he started bouncing on my bed.
“Do I get to hear some of the songs before they are released?” I asked hoping for them to break.
“NO! It is a surprise you have to wait like the rest of the UK!” Niall said whiningly.
“Unless Liam here would just tell yo-“ Niall was cut off with a book being thrown at his head.
“Liam! That was not nice! And you lost the page in my book I have a final to study for!” I shot a death glare to Liam but it softened when I saw his puppy dog eyes. “Now Niall what were you saying about something Liam needs to tell me?” I shifted my attention to Niall.
“I would rather not now I don’t want to have a bruised face for our first concert next weekend.” Niall said as he rubbed his face.
“Wait?!?! You have your first concert coming up and you didn’t even bother to tell me?!?! Did you not want me to come?” I looked at Liam with a hurt expression. How could he not tell me? Why would he not want me there?
“I told you… I think…. Maybe it slipped my mind…. Oh but I have your ticket and backstage pass right here!” He gave me a sorry expression and handed me an envelope from his jacket.
“Thank you! And for your payment…” I started to get up.
“Auri! You never have to pay to see us perform! It will always be on me no matter what!” Liam said.
“I was going to give you all chocolate chip cookies that I made this morning but if you insist…” As I said cookies Harry, Niall, Louis, and Zayn all jumped up and ran to my kitchen leaving just me and Liam. “Thank you for the ticket I can’t wait to go! But only one ticket what if I wanted to bring a date?” I winked at him. He laughed and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
“I will be your date if it really concerns you!” Liam leaned down and kissed my head.
“I was just kidding you are the only one I need right now!” Liam whispered in a low voice I could barely hear him but I think he said something along the lines of ‘Hopefully I can be the only one for you’. I could just be hallucinating because he only wants to be friends nothing more.
We walked into the kitchen to find all but one cookie eaten. “Seriously guys there were like 60 cookies there and you ate them all?”
“They are just so good!” Harry complained with a mouthful of cookie.
“I guess you are going to have to help me make another batch of cookies then” Fear entered all of their faces then smiles broke out in anticipation for more cookies.
Somehow while making cookies cookie dough got into Niall’s hair and then he ended up sitting on the floor while Harry was bent over picking it out of his hair like a monkey. Liam was cleaning up the flour that was covering his face from Louis throwing a handful of flour at him. Zayn was helping put cookie dough on the pans but ended up eating more than he was putting on the sheets. This was a mess! What are my parents going to think when they came- Just as I thought that my parents walked into the kitchen.
“Aurora! What did you do?” My mom yelled. I cringed.
“Well you see I told the boys that I had cookies and so they came down and ate all of them before I had time to stop them so I said that I would make more but they had to help and well I should not have let them help” I explained in one breath
My mom finally noticed that Liam was there and she ran over and gave him a really big hug despite the fact that he is covered in flour “Liam! Honey how have you been I haven’t seen you in months! We really miss yours and Aurora’s laughter filling up the house!” My mom whispered in a hushed tone to Liam “I swear she hasn’t laughed since you left to pursue your dream… sometimes I think she cries in her sleep”
“MUM!!!!” I screamed at my mom “he does not need to know about that!”
Liam looked at me like his heart just broke. He gave me a hug and whispered “Don’t worry I am always going to come back! How could I leave my best friend forever? I would be just as broken as you!”
The oven timer chimed and I ran to grab the cookies, even though the boys are terrible to cook with the cookies turned out perfect like every other batch that I have ever made. Niall got up off of the floor and ran to grab a cookie forgetting that they just came out of the oven. He then shoved the cookie in his mouth and spit it back out because it was piping hot.
“Ow! Ow! Ow! WATER!!! I need water!” Niall said as he ran to the sink and shoved his head under the running faucet. Everyone forgot about the previous tension and started laughing hysterically.
“How about I clean up the kitchen while you go out to the backyard with the boys?” My mom offered.
“Okay thanks Mum!” I said as I kissed her cheek.
“Yea thanks Mum” Liam said as he repeated my action and walked towards the back door. Harry ran and jumped on Liam’s back yelling “Onward march, my good fellow!” I chuckled as I walked out of the door onto the patio.
“Harry! Get off my back man! You are going to break it!” Liam said as he laughed.
“What? I am not that heavy! You are just a wimp!” Harry said as he slid off Liam’s back.
Liam turned to me and said “So Auri, when do you leave for the University in Glasgo?”
As soon as he said that Niall perked up and said “You are going to school in Ireland? I love Ireland! You know it is my home country! I love all of the grass and hills…” I cut him off before he went on a tangent.
“Yes Niall I am going to Ireland to study Mathematics. And I leave in a month, I got accepted to join the summer program”
Liam grunted when I said math. I knew he hated the subject the only subject that he ever liked was music, which is pretty self-explanatory. I was the logic and he was the creativity. We balanced each other out. “ Do you have to leave so soon? I am never going to see you anymore!” Liam whined.
“Yes I have to go unlike you I have a future to work for! I could however marry a very rich old man and then have all of his money when he dies…” I pondered the last thought, I would not have to work but I know I would not be happy with that.
“I will be an old man in about 60 years! You can marry me then!” Harry chimed in.
Everyone started laughing hysterically. “Harry, I was referring to maybe within the next 10 years not 60!” Zayn fell out of his chair onto Louis, pushing Louis onto Liam who ended up face first into my lap. This is so awkward but no one could move because they were laughing so hard.
Once the laughing seized, Liam shifted his head on my lap so he wasn’t face first in my thighs now he laid his head to look out at the garden. He snuggled up in my lap and brought his feet up onto the couch that we were sitting on. I started running my fingers through his hair. I heard Liam sigh in contempt. The other four boys were staring at us but we just ignored them. This was normal for us whenever one of us was stressed over something.
Nici bursted out of the back door onto my patio looked at all of the boys and then at Liam in my lap. She smiled when she saw that but then a grimace formed on her face. “Liam!” she shouted. Liam sat up really quick out of my lap and hit my chin with the back of his head.
“Ow what the hell Liam?” I said as I started to hold my chin.
“Sorry Auri! Nici what are you doing here?” Liam questioned his sister.
“Well Aurora and I were going to go shopping. What are you doing here? You come visit home and you don’t visit your family you don’t even tell us that you are home!”
“Sorry Nici! The boys and I wanted to visit Auri and give her, her ticket for the concert. I was going to stop by before I went back to London”
“You personally gave her, her ticket? Awe! You guys are so cute and sweet!” Nici squealed as she sat between Liam and me. “Wait! We got ours in the mail… wow it looks like you love her more than your family!”
Liam was drinking water when she sat down and he choked on the water when she said that he loves me.
“Aurora, we need to plan another shopping trip before your end of the year dance at the school! We need to find a dress that screams ‘Hello there I am sexy as hell’ I mean it isn’t every day that you get asked to go by the captain of the football (soccer) team” I was scowling at Nici she knew that she wasn’t supposed to tell Liam that and here she just said it all right in front of him and me.
Liam had a hurt expression on his face. When we were 10 and I was afraid that I was going to never had a chance to go to any dances, he promised me that he would go to my senior year end of the dance with me so I go to at least one dance in my schooling career. “You are going to the dance with Toby? I thought we planned for me to go with you? Don’t you remember when I promised you that I would take you when we were 10?”
“Well… Toby asked and I guess I figured that you would be busy with your music so I said yes… besides why would you want to go to a high school dance you can go to any big time party whenever you want!” I could not look him in the eyes when I was telling him that.
Liam got up from his seat and said “come on guys we should be leaving if we want to stop by my house before we go back.” He gave Nici a kiss on her cheek and said “it was good seeing you Nici” He didn’t even say goodbye to me he just left without another word. I wanted to cry.
“I am so sorry Aurora! I didn’t mean to tell him it just slipped out! But it is still early do you want to hit the stores now?” Nici asked as she enveloped me in a hug.
“Yea we can go! I am going to miss you when I go off to college who am I going to talk to?”
“You will find someone don’t worry! Besides Liam cannot stay mad at you just give him a couple days” Nici got up and gave me her hand to help me up. We went and grabbed my purse off the counter and we left to go shopping.
