ღ 100 Days to Say I Love You ღ

☁ Day Two ☁

98 Days Left
To what seemed eternal, the alarm clock repeatedly continued to ring as I tried to close my eyes back to sleep. “God damn it, first day of school and I’m already going to be late,” I mumbled, throwing my pillow across the bed and crawling out of my blanket.

I smashed the snooze button on the clock, and staggered my way to the bathroom, getting ready to get to school. As I opened the door to the bathroom, a girl with long blonde hair and a beanie on her head was standing in front of the mirror, making poses and taking pictures. She had a black cardigan with a white tank top, and a black skirt that matched her cardigan. Even though I hate to admit, she looked pretty.

She glanced at my reflection in the mirror, and began screaming, and aiming her iPhone towards my face, trying to use it as a weapon.

“Why are you screaming?” As she continued to scream, I covered my ears and tried to calm her down.

She stopped screaming and said, “Who are you? What are you doing in my daddy’s house?”

“I’m your stepsister,” I replied back, taking a step back. “You’re Katie, right? My mom didn’t mention a stepsister, but it would make sense.”

“Stepsister? Don’t make me laugh! Considering your appearance, your mom wouldn’t even have a chance to date my daddy!” She snickered.

“Look, if you’re going to make a fool out of me, go ahead. I’m going to take a shower,” I grumbled, gesturing her to go away.

She crossed her arms and grinned. “You’re already embarrassing yourself, hon.”

“Fuck off,” I warned.

“Whatever you say, dear,” she giggled, waving goodbye in a snotty attitude and walking out.

I yelled out a groan and stripped off my clothes and stepped into the shower, turning the knob to start the shower. Cold water suddenly rushed down my back, and I yelped and twisted the knob farther, sighing as warm water soon fit my desired temperature.

After ten minutes I stepped out of the shower, snatching the white towel off the metallic rack beside me. I wrapped the towel around my shoulders and waist, and stepped back to my room, making sure to check the time.

6:22 PM.

School begins at 7:30 PM, so I had enough time to get my hair curled and get dressed. I walked towards my walk in closet, reviewing the available clothes. I agreed on a casual outfit, so nothing too flashy.

I headed towards the bathroom once again to dry my hair. I decided to curl my hair using the curler placed in the drawers of the counter sink.

Looking at the mirror, I fidgeted with my hair to make sure it looked decent, and checked my outfit. Staring at the clock placed on the bathroom sink, I observed the time.

6:58 PM.

Wait, did I ever get instructions to get there? No bus, nor vehicle or parent to drive me there?

I raced out of the hallway and downstairs, where I saw Katie sitting on the couch crossing her legs. “Took you long enough, now get in the car.”

“Are you driving? What happened to disliking me?” I said in a cocky tone.

“Just get with it bitch, daddy wants me to drive you,” she rolled her eyes, smacking on her gum.

She stood up from the couch and unlocked the front door, leading me to the bright red car to which I presumed belonged to her. I opened the car door to the passenger seat, as she stepped into the driver’s seat. Katie rammed her key in, and started the car engine.

“How long do you think this ride will take?” I questioned, as she backed out of the driveway.

“About seven minutes,” she replied, concentrating on the road.

I adjusted the car seat strap and pulled it down, and buckled it in. Honestly, I felt like something bad was going to happen, but what could it possibly be? I mean, having this girl as a family member was harsh enough.

“We’re here.”

“This is a school?!” I said, dazzled in amazement as I witnessed the enormous building that looked very formal. I was surprised that uniforms weren’t mandatory.

“Get out of the car,” Katie snorted, as she signaled me to leave.

I got out of the car, continuing to admire the beautiful school and natural surroundings. Bystanders walking by stared at me, as if they knew I was the new kid.

Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned back, seeing Katie cross her arms again.

“Look, Holmes Chapel doesn’t get too many newcomers, so expect some gossip and a few stares. But please, don’t get caught talking to me,” Katie whispered, checking to see if anyone’s watching.

“If you’re embarrassed to talk to me, don’t talk to me at all,” I snapped, walking towards the entrance.

I heard Katie scoff behind me, but I ignored it, even though I had a constant stinging emotional pain in my stomach.

The first day of school already ended up being horrible with Katie in my way. I felt like I wanted to go back to the hospital, to just be left alone in my own little world without a care. I peeked around the school hallways, as people evidently stared at me and pointed, snickering and chatting to each other.

Finally finding a door to the room labeled ‘Administrator Office’, I stepped in to see a busy office with elders and young teachers rush past with files locked in their hands.

“Oh, you must be Skye Scarlet! Don’t worry, I’m not a stalker or anything, it’s just we rarely get newcomers. We’re a pretty small school!” A woman with a perky voice appeared suddenly.

“Err, yes. I just need my schedule and locker number,” I said uneasily. “Then I’ll be on my way.”

“My name is Mrs. Hannah! Can you remember that?” She cheered.

“That’s lovely, but-“

“Okay, just head on over to the front desk and tell them your name so we can give you your schedule. Have a great day!” She interrupted, racing out of the administrator’s office.

Well, that was, unusual.

I made my way to the front desk and saw an old looking woman with reading glasses perched on her nose.

“Skye Scarlet,” I said in a monotone voice.

The woman handed me a stack of papers, ignoring my presence and reading her book.
“Well class, meet the new girl, Skye Scarlet,” the teacher announced. “Go ahead and choose your seat Scarlet, considering that I haven’t had time to prepare your seat yet.”

I treaded down the desk aisles, hoping to find a seat quickly and stop all the attention from current lurking eyes.

“Sit here,” someone offered behind me.

I turned back to see a boy with curly hair and shiny pearl green eyes, and a brilliant smile that made me feel less hatred towards myself. It felt peculiar just looking at his face, and I was able to read his emotions just from his face. He looked like an innocent boy with acquitted feelings, and someone who would be able to treat a girl politely. But then again, I’m no psychic.

His hand extended towards mine, and he pulled me towards the seat next to him.

“Like what you see?” He winked at me.

“No thanks,” I answered in a smug tone, ignoring his question.

“My name is Harry Styles,” he whispered, giving me a grin.

“And please don’t do that,” I groaned as I stood up from my seat, looking for another seat, and trying to avoid eye contact with Harry.

I found a seat next to a blonde boy who looked Irish. Wanting to be polite, I asked, “Hey, my name’s Skye. What’s yours?”

“Niall, I’m Harry’s friend,” Niall replied, jotting down notes.

“Oh. I apologize for being a little mean.”

“Don’t worry,” Niall’s voice got quieter. “He’ll be the one who’ll have to say sorry soon, Skye.”

“What was that?” I asked, hearing just a hint of his response.

“Nothing,” he replied impatiently.

When nothing is there to cheer you up, try harder and you’ll find the way.
