Addison's P.O.V

"Mrs. Grace, I would like to speak to you after class" Ms. Groft said waking me up from my nap. I decided not to say anything letting sleep take over me again.

"This book is boring, the title has nothing to do with the book. And even if it did why would you write a book about killing a mockingbird" I said trying to defend myself

"Well maybe if you read the book you'd understand why. Addison I know you've been through a lot but it's been 1 and a half years, you can't give up now, it's senior year. If you don't pass this class you can't graduate" Ms. Groft said

"What if I don't want to graduate" I said crossing my arms over my chest

"Don't be like that, you've made it this far. Your mother would have wanted you to graduate, go to college, have a fam-" she began only for me to cut her off

"Don't tell me what my mother would have wanted for me, she's not here anymore so I have no one to impress or even live for" I whispered the last part
"Addison...."

"Ehem" someone said from behind us, we turned around at the same time

"how may I help you?" she said to the tall boy, he had white died hair, eyebrow piercing, and a couple tattoos peeking through the sleeves of his red and black flannel. The smell of weed lingering from his breath.

"Um my name's Michael, I'm new here" he said taking out his hand from his pocket to shake her hand. He looked up at me and smiled, I fake smiled then turned my attention back to Ms. Groft

"I have to go I'll see you tomorrow"
