Icing on the Cake
Chapter Seventy-One
~71~
“Hey!” Mali said happily when she saw Calum and they exchanged a hug. “Hey Luke.” She then said to me with a smile.
“Hey!” I said back, trying to sound optimistic.
“Hey man.” The guy said, sort of to both Calum and I. This guy was Brock, Mali’s boyfriend. I tried to smile, and not look as disgusted as I was.
***FLASHBACK TO JANUARY 2016***
Megan just went on her rant about how I had to drink my “straight drink” while on vacation. I took my beer outside but knew I wouldn’t drink it; it would only be a fashion statement.
Mali was also on vacation with Brock, also in Bali, so she met up with us one day.
After Megan’s stupid photographers got all the photos they needed of me, Calum and I decided to spend a little time alone together.
After we were done swimming, Calum and I were sitting on a picnic table on the beach. Mali and Brock came over to us to talk to us.
Calum and Mali decided to look for seashells like they used to. Brock and I were alone at the table. He asked me the question, “Why are you pretending you aren’t fucking Calum?”
“What?” I exclaimed, completely shocked that he said that.
“You’re obviously boning him.” Brock said.
“That’s ridiculous.” I said, trying to sound believable.
“Whatever.” Brock said. “Stay a closet fag. You’re just going to hurt your butt buddy.”
***END OF FLASBACK***
What he said made the situation I was in even stickier. Would me conforming to what Megan wanted, keeping the band together, destroy what I had with Calum? The words he said really messed me up. He’s not necessarily a bad person, he just pointed something out. Something that probably was good for me to take into consideration, even though he said it really insensitively. But he really messed with my head.
And now he was at my house.
My heart, Oof.
