Icing on the Cake
Chapter Forty-Three
~43~
“Did you sleep well?” Calum asked me after he served me breakfast in bed.
“This was a nice touch.” I said, ignoring his question. I was referring to the egg in a basket he made, but the egg was in the shape of a heart.
“I thought you’d like it.” Calum said while kissing my head.
“I slept great.” I said. “How about you?”
“Always good when I’m around you.”
“You’re like my Romeo.”
“That’s my goal.”
After eating that breakfast, I started paying some bills online. I started surfing the Internet after that, and ended up watching the Heartbreak Girl music video.
Calum walked in the room laughing. “Luke why are you watching that?”
I started laughing. “I don’t know how everyone didn’t see it. I don’t know how everyone didn’t see that we were dating.”
“How do you mean?” Calum asked.
“Look at this video from like five years ago. Twenty-four seconds in, look at us. Then two minutes and fifty-four seconds, look at us.”
Calum watched it. “We were so innocent, so blissfully ignorant back then.”
It was at that moment my phone dinged. I looked to see a message from Jack. I scoffed to myself, not wanting to deal with it.
“What’s wrong?” Calum asked.
“It’s my brother.” I said. “They want me to talk to my parents with them.”
Notes
If one person watches the Heartbreak Girl music video at those two moments and sees it any differently even for a second this will have been a complete success.
And yes, those last two chapters have been more anecdotes than anything, but I will start processing the story again and add some new plot lines!
My heart, Oof.
