Icing on the Cake

Ashton was coming over the next day, because him, Calum, and I were going to hang out. Things were still a little shaky and a little awkward between us, but we were moving past it and healing together.

It was right after lunch that he showed up. We were planning on playing one-on-one-on-one basketball.

Why not try to be healthy together, right?

Julia was going to watch the children…with Alina. I was a little nervous about this, but since Julia was there, I let it happen.

I would never let Alina babysit the children by herself.

Ashton knocked on the door, and Calum answered it. I was also by the doorframe, and Alina was sitting on the couch by the door.

“Hey!” We all three greeted each other as Ashton walked in. We both gave Ashton an awkward half hug.

“Ready to be destroyed at basketball?” Ashton asked.

“You need a mirror if you’re going to say that!” Calum shot back.

I rolled my eyes and almost started laughing at how lame and ridiculous this pitiful attempt at trash talk was.

“You leaving?” Alina asked as she stood up. She immediately stopped dead in her words and tracks when she saw Ashton.

Ashton was looking weird at her too…

“Hi.” Ashton said…as he almost started blushing.

“Hello.” Alina said, in an almost sultry manner. “Who are you?”

“I’m Ashton.” Ashton responded, like he was holding back nervous giggles. “Who are you?”

“Alina.”

“Would Alina like to get dinner with me tonight?” Ashotn asked.

Okay…um…what the fuck?

“Alina would love to.” She said as she grabbed Ashton’s hand and kissed it before walking away.

For a second, Ashton had a dopey grin on his face. After he snapped out of his daze, he asked, “Ready to go?”

“Calum,” I said, nervously grabbing his arm, “What the fuck just happened?”
