Icing on the Cake
Chapter Seventeen
~17~
“Luke.” He said back to me right away. “Is it true that Mom and Dad kicked you out?”
“Well it was mostly Mom, Dad wasn’t home.” I clarified. “But clearly Dad supports that decision because it’s been twenty-four hours.”
“Where’d you stay last night?”
“Calum’s.”
“Are you still there?”
“Where else would I go?” I asked.
“You could’ve come to my apartment.” Ben had an apartment in the same town. “Why didn’t you do that?”
I suddenly became numb and a sense of dread and anxiety about going to the gay conversation place with my brother. “Because,” I said, realizing that if I spoke I would start crying. “I thought you would support their decision.” Tears rolled down my face.
“I would never…Luke.” He responded.
“How did you even know?” I said, knowing that it was obvious by how I sounded that I was crying. “How did you even know I got kicked out?”
“Jack texted me yesterday.”
“Then why did it take you until now to call me?”
“I was out last night and my phone died. I went to work this morning with it charging in my car and I saw it right after I got off work. I called right away.”
“Oh.”
“Come stay at my place. I can turn my office back into a spare bedroom.” Ben said.
“Okay.” I said. “Thank you.” I hung up the phone.
“Well, Calum.” I said. “I have a solution to my problem.”
