Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Sixty-Four
~164~
“There’s no way out of it, Luke.” Our lawyer said to Calum and I in our kitchen the next day. “The court is summons you to be there next Tuesday.”
“Oh my God.” I wailed. “I’m actually going to miss their first birthday here with us.”
“We could have their party a day later.” Calum suggested.
“But then it’s not their birthday.” I said. “I just…need to…”
“Are you still going to keep your lunch plans with Ren today?” Calum asked.
“Yeah.” I said. “I’ll vent with her.”
I arrived at the restaurant, and I had started to cool down a little. But just a little.
After seeing Ren and giving her a hug, we sat down.
“How’s the pregnancy going?” I asked her. “I’m seeing a pretty good bump!”
“It’s going great! Michael’s getting more and more excited, so that makes me more excited as well!” Ren then leaned her arm down next to her.
“OH MY GOD!” She exclaimed. “My purse isn’t down here! I swear I left my purse down here!”
With perfect timing, a woman came up to Ren and asked, “Is this your purse?”
“Yes!” Ren cried. “Oh my God where was it?”
“In the aisle, maybe you kicked it away from your feet?” The woman suggested.
“Maybe.” Ren said while taking back the purse. “Oh my God thank you so much!” After checking to make sure everything important was in there, Ren then turned her attention to me. “What’s up with you?”
“Ren, I have to RANT about something to you!” I exclaimed.
“Let’s hear it!”
