Icing on the Cake

Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Five

~125~ TWO MONTHS LATER

Calum and I decided to push back our wedding a little bit because we wanted to send out invitations and give everyone ample time to plan their trips to Sydney.

It was early December and we were rocking around the Christmas tree, literally, as we decorated the tree for Christmas and eager to celebrate our first holiday season with our new family.

Calum and I also decided to hire a speech pathologist to come and work with the twins twice a week. We wanted them to get better at developing skills at speaking English.

My mother was starting to improve slightly, and she was able to go home before Christmas to spend the holiday at home. She said she wanted to meet the twins, but I wasn’t ready for her to do that yet. So many negative things from my life came from her and even though we were working on patching the holes, I wasn’t ready to fully trust her yet.

I’m really starting to think Adam will be a professional swimmer or something when he grows up. He tries to drag me to the pool with him literally every day.

I was such an overprotective parent. Every time we were in the pool I would follow him around, ready to catch him if he fell under or anything. I could almost hear him thinking, “Gosh dad leave me alone.”

And if I’m going to continue in guessing my children’s futures, I would think that Anastasia will be an artist. She is always coloring or drawing. It’s constant, basically. It’s adorable.

Julia turned into somewhat of a workaholic. She would work all day or into the evening, come home to spend time with the twins, but then go straight to sleep and repeat.

She said she was saving money, and I was getting a little concerned that she was trying to save money to leave and get her own place.

I didn’t really want her to leave. I don’t think Calum did, either. We were a three people parenting team. It’s unconventional, but it’s us.

Notes

I think I got out of this writer's block because I have a new storyline idea.
