Icing on the Cake
Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-Three
~123~
Relieved that everything was looking good for Ren, I went home feeling pretty good about everything.
Lol that wasn’t going to last very long, especially considering I got a text from my dad. This was going to be rough.
“My dad is all but begging me to come and visit my mom again.” I told Calum.
“Are you going to?” Calum asked.
“It’s complicated.” I tried to explain. “Remember Christmas a few years ago?”
****FLASBACK TO DECEMBER 2015****
Calum, Ashton, Michael and I were all hanging out at Calum’s small house in Sydney on Christmas Eve, talking, drinking and having a good time.
The doorbell rang and I got up to get it. We ordered pizza and I figured that’s what it was. When I opened the door, it was my father.
I quickly pushed him backwards, walking out of the house and closing the door. “What are you doing here?” I snarled.
“Son, I wanted to say to you in person, Merry Christmas.”
“Fuck you.” I shot back. “You kick me out of your house, left me for dead when I was sixteen and now that I’ve done something for myself, made money since I’m assuming that’s what you’re here for, you’re greeting me a Merry Christmas?”
“Luke, we’ve realized we’ve made a mistake.” My dad said.
“Get out of my life.” I said, loudly and angrily.
Just as I said that, the teenage pizza guy came up with the pizzas, awkwardly and uncomfortably since he witnessed the argument.
“Keep the change.” I said nicely to the pizza guy as I handed him three twenties and took the pizzas from him.
“Thanks man.” The pizza guy said passively and quietly as we walked away. I walked inside the house, shutting the door on my father’s face, like he did to me.
“Pizza’s here!” I exclaimed, not letting anyone in the house know what just happened.
