Winter

We walked past him into the living room and were greeted by two other guys. I scanned the room for Elena when I saw sit with the long hair. “That's Harry.” Liam had sneaked up from behind and whispered in my ear so that I wasn't embarrassed for not knowing who they were. I nodded and shifted my eyes to the guy who was smoking outside “that's Louis.” I did know him, he was the one who was having a baby with a friend.

“Thank you Liam.” I whispered back when the doors that led to the garden opened and my eyes locked with his eyes. I couldn't look away and Liam had noticed this. “That my dear Winter is Niall.” He had a low chuckle as if he knew something I didn’t know. Niall didn't waste time as he instantly walked over to us, he didn't even stop to say hello to the other girls, he just went straight for me, which frightened me a bit as I wasn't really used to getting much attention from guys especially not attractive guys.

“Hi I'm Niall.” He had his hand stretched out for me to grab and then it hit me, I had heard that voice before but where was it, it wasn't on the radio and that's when it hit me, he was the guy who had knocked me over. “You're the guy that knocked me over earlier!” I stated because it was a fact and he didn't even look guilty but just smiled at me as he nodded. “Yes that was me and I'm really sorry for doing so but I still don't know your name.” I should feel annoyed by this but I just couldn't.

“Sorry, I'm Winter.” I quickly took his hand and as I was about to shake it, he tightened his grip and brought it to his mouth were he slowly pressed a kiss on it. I was completely mesmerized by him and also slightly annoyed. I pulled my hand out his hand because I felt everyone stare at us. “All right show is over. I'm Winter, just to through that out and it's nice to meet you all but we really should head back to our cottage. Girls?” They all walked with me still completely in shock and I could hear the guys chuckle at my reaction to Niall but I decided not to let him get under my skin, I wasn't looking for a guy at the moment, so there was just no way that I would fall for him, it was just not going to happen.

We walked back into the house and as soon as the door was closed the girls were screaming like crazy and it was quite a spectacle. I watched it from a small distance and just waited for them to stop screaming. “What was that between you and Niall?” I shrugged but they weren't falling for that and Belle got into my face, with her don't-you-lie-to-me face. “I met him earlier today as he knocked me over but I didn't see his face so this was as much a surprise for me as it was for you.” I dismissed it and that resulted in me getting a pillow thrown against my head.

“How can you not recognize his voice?” Elena was really upset about this and I couldn’t contain myself from rolling me eyes. “Because I’m not obsessed with them.” I threw the pillow back and that’s when my stomach growled at me. “Look we can stay here and discuss why I wasn’t polite to Niall or we can go out and eat.” I suggested and Bella was already walking to the door, grabbing her coat on her way to the door. “I guess we should get something to eat.” Liz mumbled, following in Bella’s footsteps. “Fine but you better apologize for the way you treated Niall.” She was getting on my nerves so I just nodded and surrendered. I grabbed my coat and walked out and the moment I pulled the door shut, I saw the guys emerge from their house.

One of the girls must’ve texted them, to my annoyance. “Who texted them?” I hissed through my teeth and Elena just smiled at me as we waited for the guys to join us. I was almost praying that Liam would walk next to me but I definitely didn’t have a lucky day today because of course Niall was the one who came up to me. “Hi.” He said and I tried my hardest to ignore him but when my eyes locked with Elena’s she was given me instruction to apologize. “Niall, I’m sorry for earlier today.” I just had to get it over with but as my eyes locked with his, it was as if time froze for a second, which was weird right?

“That’s okay, you were in a hurry.” He smiled at me and I nodded. I put my thumbs up to Elena, to ensure her that I had apologized. “So, for how long are you girls staying here?” he was trying small talk and that was probably the safest thing to do in this situation. “We will be staying here till new years’ day and you guys?” I asked him.

He shrugged “We’re not really on a schedule, as we will have a hiatus this spring.” He explained, he was waiting for my reaction but I didn’t quite know how to respond, as I did know that because it was all over the news when they told the world and Elena was in tears. “It must be weird right, to have a break for an entire year.” I was just wondering this as he smiled at me. “I don’t know what will happen and that’s the scary part I guess.” He was actually really nice and I liked the way he smiled when he talked about the band.

“I think I can understand but you guys are coming back right? I mean people say that this is it.” I shrugged not wanting him to know that I was quite interested because I always told Elena that I didn’t like them. “We will be back, I really don’t know why people think we wont be back, it’s just a break, which we earned after five years.” I loved that he sounded annoyed because that’s when I knew he was speaking the truth; Elena would be pleased. We walked in silence and stopped in front of the only pub in the town and to our surprise it was as busy as we would have thought, as it was dinner time. We walked in and were immediately seated in one of the tables near the window. “So I was thinking that maybe if everyone would like it, to go explore the castle tomorrow?” I saw my friends cringe at the thought of rummaging in a ancient castle just to sniff up some history.

“I would love to.” Niall shrugged whilst drinking his beer and I smiled at him. “Thanks.” I told him and narrowed my eyes at my friends who betrayed me for not wanting to go but I couldn’t stay mad at them for long, as we were all enjoying the food and the drinks, Bella even got drunk, which was surprising, as she didn’t like to drink a lot. I was the only one who was still sober, which was fine with me, as someone had to be the adult one I guess.

I asked for the bill and paid for everyone, making them swear that they would pay me back, I even made them sign the recipe, just in case they forgot. When we returned home, we said good night to the lads and I told Niall at what time I was planning on going, I didn’t really think he would remember it but that was fine.

The girls didn’t want to go the sleep yet but I on the other hand did, so I told them all good night and walked to my room. Enjoying the warmth of the house. I loved my room the most, as it made me think of a room from the middle ages, with the bed and the fireplace. I changed into my pajama’s and pulled the elastic out of my hair and whilst looking outside I brushed it. I know The guys were still up because there was still light burning and as I looked down I saw Niall looking up, he even waved, which I returned feeling slightly awkward and closed the curtains.
