Winter

Thirty Four.

“Maybe you should sit down for this one Elena.” I suggested and she actually did what I asked, which was a rare thing. “Okay I’m sitting, tell me everything.” I took a deep breath and started my story.

“You know that I went for a walk when we were in the that cabin right?” she nodded and urged me to go on with the story. “Well I was with Niall when we went on my walk and my destination was this old ruin of a castle, which was a bit further in the woods but what we didn’t know was that the gate that led to this castle was enchanted, we only found out when we bumped into some knights and were led to the castle,”

I took a sip from my water before continuing my story but I could already tell she didn’t believe a thing I was telling. “We were brought to the laird of the castle, who’s name was John Stewart, everything you thinks is true about the middle ages, well I can safely say that they are all true.” I told her everything about the village, the knights and the maids, the vile smell in the courtyard, the cold.

“Wait up, so what you are telling me is that you actually went back in time?” I nodded, whilst watching her, she looked confused and worried, she was probably wondering if I was going crazy.

“Okay so how did you and Niall happen and why did you forget about him?”

“Well the thing is because of all the stories we know a thing or two about the middle ages and Niall thought it would be wise to tell them we were engaged, this way I was protected from dangerous men, sweet but not the smartest thing to do especially when the laird wants to have a party and you just gave him the best excuse ever. He told us he would get us married and that was that, we couldn’t tell him no and even though I had my doubts, we went with it and that’s when we discovered our attraction.

But we met this guy named James Horan and as you probably guessed, yes he is the ancestor of Niall but this guy was a sorcerer, which we didn’t know at first.” I told her about James and his love Lady Blackwood, who looked exactly like me, which was freaky and what he had done to Niall and I. I told her about James murdering Duncan, so that he could have Lady blackwood and I told her about the meeting with his sister.

“So how did you get back?” I won her over, she was looking at me way too intrigued but then again it was a lot to wrap your head around. “His sister wanted to help us out because she was ashamed of what her brother did, so we had to go look for them and bring them back before the first full moon and we had to be at the exact same spot as we arrived but I wanted to take revenge on James for doing this to us and to that poor Duncan so I asked her if there was a spell we could use to make him forget about Lady Blackwood and there was but there was a chance that the spell could backfire at Niall and I, which would mean we would not remember each other but the risk was me being pregnant at that time, Niall didn’t know this though.”

“You didn’t tell him?” I shook my head feeling even worse about this. “No I didn’t because he would never let me do that spell.”

“Well go on with the story.”

“James’s sister agreed to help me because she saw why Lady Blackwood and James couldn’t be together so we arrived at the gate and after the full moon was done we weren’t linked and we did the spell and next thing I know I wake up in bed at home.”

“But you really had no memory of Niall?”

“I didn’t no but I knew something had happened as I was pregnant and what I also didn’t get was the time jump, I mean it’s May already and when we left it was January, I mean I think it was January.”

“So what now, I mean you are married to Niall Horan, so what’s the plan?” I shrugged because I really hadn’t had time to think this through, as I couldn’t remember Niall just an hour ago.

“I don’t know.” She got up “Well let’s go enjoy the lads gig for the time remaining and afterwards you need to talk to Niall.” She grabbed my hand and led me to the arena, all the family members and friends were standing there and I know that Niall had been waiting for me to appear because his smile just grew bigger when he spotted me.

“I don’t think you have to worry about his reaction Winter.” Elena yelled in my ear and I think she was right this time; I had probably been worrying for nothing. I even was enjoying myself even though I had never been a big fan but you had to admit they could sing live. I know that his parents were looking at me, trying to guess why their song was looking at me but if I let that worry me it would probably ruin the evening for me because how on earth do you tell your parents that their song is married and knocked his wife up without telling his parents about it and the fact that Niall was still so young didn’t make it any better.

The show was over and we all made our way backstage. Elena and I stayed back just out of respect of all the family members. “They stared at you the entire time.” I turned to Elena who was smiling at me “It will be fine, Niall will tell them and everything will be okay, you’ll see.”

“If you say so.” I attempted a smile, we watched them socializing with everyone when Niall suddenly spotted me and just walked straight towards me and grabbed me into a bear hug. “Don’t ever hide in the back okay.” He whispered in my ear and I nodded and let him drag me to his family. His mother, father and brother was standing in front of us.

“Niall shouldn’t you introduce us?” His mother asked and that’s when he started beaming. “Mum, Dad, Mike, this is Winter Blackwood and she is my wife.” I smiled weakly at them as their faces showed pure shock but that shock was overtaken by anger on his mother’s part.

“What do you mean, your wife?”

“We are married.” He pointed between us as if that wasn’t clear enough but I know what his mother was thinking and it wasn’t good. “When did this happen because as I recall you weren’t married a few hours ago.”

“Well the funny thing is, I was but I just forgot about it, remember what I told you when you asked me why I was gone for so long and I couldn’t tell you, well this is what happened, I’m not sure why I forgot about her but when I saw her, I could suddenly remember everything again, including the part that she has been my wife for at least four months.”

“What were you thinking marrying her in the first place?”

“Well to be honest she actually didn’t want to because she was afraid I would regret it and due the fact we didn’t really know each other at that point but I just knew she was the one for me.”

“What if she’s just after your money?” That felt like a slap in my face and I felt the hairs standing upright when she said that.

“You know I don’t have to stand here and have insult me. I don’t need or want your son’s money and this was one of the reasons I didn’t want to marry him in the first place. I love your son and in the time we were together, I loved every minute with him, oh and before I forget, I’m also four months pregnant and before you ask, yes it’s Niall’s, so if you’ll excuse me, I will be leaving now.”
