Chapter 4

I noticed Cal was looking down the whole time, but now has his head up, looking me in the eyes. My face burns from blushing so hard.
“Sarah, is that true?” he asks.
“Y-yes.” I reply, probably more scared than he was.
“Come with me” he says, pulling me up and out of the room and into the hallway with him. “Is that really true?” he whispers.
“Cal, I wouldn’t lie about something like that. I like you way too much to lie.”
“I like you too.” he says. “Will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?” he asks after a moment.
“ Calum Thomas Hood, of course I will.”
“Thank you so much, Sarah Emily Sanderson.” He says, pulling me back into Luke’s room with him. As soon as we sit back down, the questions start.
“What are you guys now?”
“Are you like a thing now?”
“Did she say yes?”
But Luke only looks down when we make eye contact. Oh no did Luke like me too?I mean I love him, but only as a friend. Oh Luke, I’m so sorry.
“Yes, I asked her out. Yes, she said yes. And Yes, We are a thing now.” says Cal, overly confident. Oh Cal. I laugh.
“What?” he says sounding offended.
“Nothing, just the way you said it. So confident.” I say.
“Oh, I’m just so happy.”
“Me too.”
Luke suddenly jumps up and runs out of the room and down the hallway.
“Luke!” screams Ashton.
*Ashton’s Point of View*
“Luke!” I scream, running after him. Luke loves Sarah, and Cal just asked her out and she said yes. I feel so bad. Luke stops running when he gets to the bathroom, slams the door and locks it.
“Luke! Let me in! Please just talk to me.” I say.
“Go away!!” he screams. I can tell he’s crying. I see Sarah running down the hall, coming towards me.
“What happened?” she asks.
“I-I uh c-can’t tell y-you.” It comes out more like a question.
“C’mon Ash, i’m one of your best mates. You can tell me anything.”“No. I can’t tell you this. It’’s not my thing to tell. It’s Luke’s.” I can tell Luke is listening. He unlocks the door and we go in.
“Luke, what happened?” asks Sarah.
“I Love you, Sarah. I love you so much and you will never love me the way I love you.”
*Sarah’s point of view*
I’m stunned for a second and don’t know what to say.When I finally get my thoughts straight, I say “Luke, I do love you.”
“No, Sarah. Not the way I want you to.I love you in a way you’ll never love me.”
“Oh Luke.” I say pulling him into a hug. “I’m so sorry I hurt you. I h-have to g-go.” I say, running out of the room and down the stairs, trying not to let Liz see the hot tears streaming down my face.
I hear Mikey calling for me to come back, but I keep going. I walk home in silence, except for my phone going off non-stop with calls and texts from the guys. I ignore it and keep walking, but am distracted by my thoughts. I was the reason why Luke did that. He thought I would never love him. But I do love him, just not that way. What am I going to do? My thoughts are interrupted by my phone playing a different ringtone then the usual American Idiot by Green Day, it’s playing What I Like About You. That’s Luke’s ringtone.
