Once In a Lifetime

Chapter 14

When we arrive back at the apartment Harry seems a little distracted. I’m not sure what’s wrong. I hope I haven’t done anything to upset him. He says he has some calls to make so I offer to go down the street to get us some coffee.
I worry a little as I walk to the coffee shop. My mind is racing. Fortunately I don’t have too much time to think because the coffee shop is empty and I’m in and out rather quickly. I return to the apartment much quicker than I thought. Harry’s bedroom door is cracked open and I hear him talking. I plan on just popping in and giving him the coffee and then I’ll leave the room to give him privacy. But as I get closer I hear two voices. Harry has his phone on speaker and he’s talking to Niall. I honestly didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but something stopped me in my tracks outside Harry’s door. Harry obviously thought I was still gone.
“But Niall I’m so confused. I really care about Dee. I can’t believe how jealous I got today when I saw her talking to that guy. I want to tell her how I feel but what if she doesn’t feel the same?” Harry says sounding frustrated.
“Harry, mate trust me, just go for it. I can’t say anymore but trust me, tell Dee how you feel.” Niall replies.
I can’t believe what I just heard. A big smile creeps on my face. Then I think quickly. I go back to the front door, open it and close it again loudly so H will know I’m back. As I reach the bedroom Harry is opening the door. I hand him his coffee and I realize there is something different between us. We just stand there for a moment or two and it would look to outsiders that we were memorizing each others eyes. However I think I know what is going on. It’s a turning point for both of us. We are both now confident that these feelings we’ve been having are mutual. Harry’s conversation with Niall has confirmed this for him. And even though I wasn’t technically part of that conversation it has confirmed it for me as well. I break the silence first. “Why don’t we have our coffee on the balcony?”
Harry replies. “I’ll meet you out there in a second. I just have to grab something first.”
