Dear Niall
The Hug
Chapter 2
I got in my mustang and drove off to pick up Dani and Drake. First i went to pick up Drake. He was screaming of course. Something about his brain made him tend to be frustrated. The teacher said the usual, "He's just sweet but sometimes hard to handle." I pulled him up on my hip as he shoved his head into my chest.
"Ya Drake, he needs help." Said a teacher.
"He should have never came." Said another.
I listened intently as they continued to judge my brother. I suddenly walked in.
"Hey he has something to say but he cant communicate." I said.
They both just stared at me.
"Be glad that you can say what you want to the world." I said as tears fell onto my cheeks. It felt good. Kingston stared at me. "It's okay." I whispered.
I went by McDonalds to get him a cone to cure. Then we got Dani.
"Hey Dani." I said.
"Hi." She said quietly.
"Will just drop off Kingston and we can get to work." I said smiling.
All she did was nod.
We finally got to the bakery. Ahnna and Jenna were in the corner talking about boys. Courtney sat at a table drawing.
"Come on guys," i encouraged, "lets get to work."
I started out making Drake's favorite, the S'more cupcake. The bottom was crusted in graham crackers, with a chocolate cupcake, and a rich marshmallow frosting. Came up with it myself. After about an hour or two we finished the cupcakes. "I got the frosting." Ahnna said, winking at Jenna.
"Okay so 10,20,30, and 40, then 50." I said checking off on the clipboard. "Finished."
"Finally," said Jenna, "its so exhausting."
After cleaning up the shop, we all sat down and each ate a cupcake. "So anything new." I said, attempting to start a conversation.
"Ummm nothing really." Said Ahnna.
"Ahhh i mean we all obviously obsess over one direction." Said Jenna.
"Durrr i didn't know that." I said, acting clueless.
"Well we have work tommorow," said Dani, "Another boring day."
"Come on guys," i said, "we can make work fun and interesting."
"Might as well sale the place," said Dani.
"Mom gave us a future," i said.
"Making cupcakes at her bake shop." Said Dani, "its all hers!!"
The room got silent. Mom gave us the cupcake shop when we graduated. When we were young we would craze over selling cupcakes. Sometimes, now, she would come and help but she was busy writing articles for the newspaper.
Ahnna and Jenna left. Courtney, without a word, left. Then it was me and Dani.
"So sister to sister," i said, "anything."
"Not really." She said. Her eyes filled in depression.
"Ya i feel terrible," i said, "my body, my attitude is all different."
"Ya do you want Niall to come back," she said.
"That remains unanswered," i said back.
"Well you guys have something special." She said, actually smiling.
"Ya well if he wants me," i said, "he's got to come and find me."
When we got home, we ate dinner.
"Delicious mom." I said.
"Not to bad for a single women and three kids," she said.
Dad left when Dani and I were about three. Mom never spoke of him. Same with Kingston's dad. He left before Kingston was even born. Everything is a mystery.
I went down to the pond, yes the one where the kiss happened. I took out my lyric book and guitar. I strummed it slowly. I sat at a bench in an alcove. Niall always hid here in our games of hide-and-seek. No wonder i could always find him. The branches kept a barrier around me, kept me safe. Then i felt a little drop. Rain. The smell of rain always made me happy. The way it rushed through me skin. Then i started to sing:

And you'll be owning all the fines.
Then i thought i heard a voice humming. When i stopped it stopped. I looked around, no one. Then i turned back and hands covered my eyes. I could recognize them anywhere. Wait, shock hit me.
"Hey Banana." Said a familer voice.
"Niall." I said with excitment.
I grabbed him a gave him a hug.
The hug i waited for forever.
