Timing is Everything (Liam Payne)

Ch 24

I wake up the next morning before him, roll over and just watch him. I can see the little boy in him. He's so peaceful, no stress, no worries, not having to please everyone all the time. Laying there, hopefully having peaceful dreams.
"Stop starring at me" he says with his eyes closed. I bend over and kiss his lips and lay on his chest. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me close. "What do you want to do today?"
"I think it's raining out."
"It's London, of course its raining." He says with his eyes still closed.
"Do you want to sleep longer, I'll get up and let you sleep."
"You stay right where you are."
We lay there a while longer and listen to the rain. This, to me, is the best weather for staying in nice comfy pajamas, cuddled up with a book in bed, all day. I'm sure I have a good book on my I pad.
"Do you have anything you need to do today?"
"Yes. Tour stuff. Its going to take a bit also." He leans over and looks at the clock. "And if I'm going to get there on time, I need to get in the shower". He gets up, stretches and heads to the shower. "What about you?"
"Well, I am going to cuddle up and read. I haven't been able to do that in some time, so that is what I am going to do." I say as I sit up and cross my legs.
I get up and dig through my clothes looking for some lounge pants, finding my Hello Kitty pants, I put those on. My nieces keep my night wear exciting.
The kitchen floor is cold, I'll have to find socks in a little while, but first coffee. I make myself some and fix him some tea. I throw a bagel in the toaster and find the cream cheese. He comes around the corner as his tea is ready.
"You're a fast learner" he says as he takes a drink. "I have to go. I'll call you later. Eat in or out?"
"I'll cook something, it'll be a surprise."
He kisses me and pulls me close for a hug and hangs on a little longer than usual.
"I shall return" and he's out the door.
I go through the cupboards and pull some spices out, get some carrots, potatoes, celery and onion out and the beef tips bought from the store. Slice the vegetables, add the spices and beef tips and start them simmering. Perfect night for beef stew.
I eat my bagel at the counter and take my coffee to the living room. My I pad is in the bedroom so I retrieve it, pull the comforter off the bed and drag it into the living room with me. I get all comfy on the couch, close my eyes and listen to the rain for a minute or two. I love the rain. Back home I love a summer thunderstorm, to sit on the front porch and watch the trees sway back and forth with the wind, throwing leaves everywhere, the occasional spray as the wind direction changes. Unfortunately, this isn't home though. It's cold. I snuggle up and start on a new book, War Brides. I love books written about the World War II era, fiction and non fiction.
It doesn't take me long to get lost in the book and loose time. My stomach lets me know how long I have been reading. I get up and fix myself a sandwich and take it back to the couch with me. After eating, I start to get sleepy. As with most books, I keep telling myself 'one more chapter' til I can hardly keep my eyes open. I keep myself wrapped up and head to the bedroom for a nap. The pitter patter of rain hitting glass is putting me to sleep.
I am awakened by my phone ringing. It's Liam. They are going a little later than anticipated, should be back by 8. I tell him that quite all right, not a big deal.
I decide to be a nosy and start looking at his clothes. Dear God, either he needs new clothes or something. They've been worn to death. I can tell pretty much which ones he wore in concerts, they're lumped together. Then there's a pile in the corner of the closet. He has some nice clothes, I guess for going out, but as far as everyday clothes, those need to be replaced. Hats are everywhere. Shoes, and I thought I had a shoe problem. I cant help but laugh looking through all of this. Flannel shirts of several different colors, team jerseys, they guy really needs to have someone organize, sort, donate to charity, auction off for charity, just do something with all these clothes.
My phone rings.
"Me and the guys are going to get a beer."
"Ok"
"Everything all right?"
"Fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, get a beer. I'm not going anywhere."
I'm somewhat let down because there is a beef stew cooked, but I also know, he is not used to having someone back home waiting for him. I go to the kitchen and turn it off. I fix myself a bowl and leave it out to cool some while I see what I might drink. I had bought some wine coolers for me so I get one of those and eat while watching TV. I watch a documentary on haunted castles in the UK and decide that is one tour I would love to do.
I hear him at the door fiddling with the keys. I hope hes not too drunk. He comes in and smells the beef stew and is suddenly apologetic that he didn't come right home, and he isn't drunk. He couldn't get the keys right because of the flowers he had gotten me. He's upset with himself. I try to convince him that it really is all right, hes had me here for a week and will have me a few more days. The flowers are beautiful, crazy daisies is what they're called, blue, yellow, bright pink and orange daisies. I find a large glass and put them in water. No vases here in a bachelor pad
We have a seat on the couch to talk. We've been invited to a New Year's party, a friend of a friend. He doesn't know this person but has been assured it's a party you don't want to miss. I agree to go, I was wondering if we would be going to a party somewhere. I'm watching him as he is talking and is isn't looking well.
"Are you feeling OK, because you're face is kind of flushed."
"Now that you mention it, I haven't been feeling well the past couple of hours, I just thought I was tired".
"No, you're getting sick" I say as I feel of his face, he's running a fever. "How much did you drink?" knowing this will affect him if he starts getting nauseous.
"Just two beers, honestly. I didn't feel like drinking much and now I know why."
I grab some Tylenol for him and help him get into bed.
I sit up and read next to him as he rests and notice he's got chills. This is going to be a long night. Not long after I get to sleep he jumps out of the bed and heads for the bathroom, vomiting. I follow him and find a rag and dampen it with cold water and lay on the back of his neck. I hope this only a 24 hour bug and not the flu. I get him a cup of water to rinse his mouth with and sit on the side of the tub and wait for him. He turns and lays his head in my lap, only to have to turn around and get sick again. This goes on most of the night. If he's not better by in the morning, I'll have to take him somewhere and I don't know where that is.
I wake up around 7 and he's still hot so another round of Tylenol it is, hopefully he can keep it down. I hear a phone ringing so I make my way to the front of the house and its his phone. I don't know if I should but since he's sick I answer it.
"Hello"
"I need to speak to Liam"
"He's sick but I'm walking the phone to him now."
I wake him enough to tell him he has a call. He's coherent enough to tell them he's sick and he cant make it. He hands me the phone and goes back to sleep.
He sleeps pretty much the rest of the day. He doesn't vomit anymore, which is good. I keep an eye on him and keep track of his temp.
I decide to make him some chicken soup, something light he can eat when he feels he can handle it. When its finished I turn it off so it can cool and hear him walking down the hall. He's so pale but I can tell he's feeling some better. It appears to only be a quick bug. I fix him a bowl of soup and he eats it saying its the best thing ever. I ask him if he's up to a shower and he shakes his head yes and heads back that way. I get everything together for him so when he gets out all he has to do is climb back in bed.
We lay in bed and watch TV for a couple of hours before he falls back to sleep. What a day! I find his other phone in a pocket and there are countless texts. I put it next to his other phone, he can deal with it when he gets up in the morning and is feeling better. My biggest fear right now is that I don't get the crud he just had. I've been very careful to wash my hands and use sanitizer. Tomorrow I will be cleaning.
I am awakened in the morning by someone rummaging through the house, it's the cleaning lady. I go around and straighten up with her, which irritates her, so I stop. It's all I can do not to grab a cloth and start dusting. I tell her he's been sick and she says she'll take care of it. We had maids growing up but we had to help clean so someone coming in and doing everything is foreign to me.
He gets up to his alarm. He says he feels better but he is still pale. He has to go in, some kind of meetings before they start rehearsing. He's gone all day. I stay in and work some from my computer, make a couple of calls and send some e mails. I call my mom and check in with her letting her know I am all right and am having a good time.
He comes in tired, still recovering, but better. I warm up the beef stew from the other night and we have that for dinner. We go to bed early, lay there and watch TV. I could lay in his arms for the rest of my life and never tire from it.
December 31st. I leave in four days. I am not looking forward to it at all. There are things I am ready to get back to but leaving him and 'this' is going to be hard. I have my outfit all planned out for tonight. A silver sequinned short dress and silver heels to match. He will more than likely be in black on black, that seems to be his go to for all things dress up related.
He gives the address to the driver and we arrive at a huge house. Cars in line, waiting to drop off people. When it is our turn, our door is opened and we exit the car.
He seems to know some of the people here. I automatically get a bad vibe about this party. Something is not right. I grab his arm and stay right next to him. I am way out of my element. This is beyond any frat house party I ever went to.
We enter the house, a DJ has been set up and he's got the music thumping and people dancing. Scantily clad hostesses are walking around handing out glasses of champagne. In another room tables are spread with all types of food and desserts. I lean in and tell Liam I need to find the powder room. Someone points me in the right direction and I finally find one, probably not the one they want me to use, but its what I found.
I know this is probably the master bedroom so I knock slightly before going in. I open the door to see several people having sex on the bed. I walk by trying not to stare, I have one objective, I have to pee and bad. I open the door to the bathroom to girls doing lines on the marble counter top and asking me if I'd like a line, I need to pee and get out of here. When I am finished, I'm almost running out.
One thing I don't do is drugs. One of my sisters had gotten involved in drugs in college and I saw what it did to her and my parents and vowed to myself to never go down that road. I'm having trouble finding Liam and I start to get a little nervous. I am very uncomfortable and want to leave. I take a sip of my champagne hoping it will calm me down. I find a place somewhat centrally located and plant my back against the wall, hoping I will see him. The hostess comes by and takes my empty glass and gives me another. Halfway through this glass and I'm starting to feel dizzy. Champagne has never done this to me before. I need to sit down or lie down, I just cant stand. I meander through the halls of the house and find a bed and lay down. If my head will stop spinning, I will be better.
I wake up. It must be morning, sun light is coming through the curtains. I vaguely remember where I am, but who am I laying next to and where are my clothes? All I have on is my bra and panties. I'm confused.
Where is Liam?
