Amp It Up (X Factor, Niall Horan, One Direction Love Story)

Chapter 20

~ ~ ~
Ryan.
~ ~ ~

Ryan felt elated. He was safe this week, Kelly was safe, and The Heartbreakers were on the line to be eliminated next week if it went well.
He fairly skipped off stage after the traditional hugs and handshakes were exchanged between the eliminated and the contestants. He'd ruffled Tina's hair and hanked Vanessa's ponytail on his way back to the rec room to get his guitar, and they'd screamed and giggled. They'd been planning something, but he didn't know what.
He felt like writing a song. He was happy, satisfied, and in love after all, and he decided to write one. Nothing could get in his way, he had an entire night to do as he pleased and he was going to spend it playing music and daydreaming.
Whistling, he made his way down the corridor and nodded at a flustered and angry looking middle aged couple. They were fighting furiously in whispers, and from what Ryan could make out they both had strong American accents.
“No, Casey I'm not asking him for help! I can find my own dang way to my own dang daughters room!” The red haired man hissed. The woman glared so ferociously at who Ryan presumed was her husband that the man actually shrank back.
“Ask him for help or I will!” She growled. The man finally relented after a heated stand off and turned toward Ryan.
“Do you happen to know the way to a Kelly Melendez's room?” He asked. Ryan nodded warily. “Yes, sir. I'm Ryan Debark.” He stuck his hand out and shook the older man's hand.
“I am Robert Melendez and this is Casey Melendez,” He said, gesturing to the woman without looking at her. “We're Kelly's parents.”
Ryan was in a slight daze after that.
Of course Kelly had parents. He just assumed they were still in Canada. He hadn't asked anything further when she'd told him that they weren't coming to see the shows. She hadn't wanted to talk about it at the time. As far as he knew she lived with her grandmother, who she talked to every other day.
He simply couldn't believe that these people beside him were her parents. The only resemblance he could see so far to them was the red hair and the cheekbones from her father. And the eyes from her mother.
Their personalties were so completely different though. Kelly's mother acted like a... Ugly word for a female dog.
She insulted her husband seven different times on the way to her daughters room, and she informed Ryan that he looked like a homeless man. That wasn't exactly the way he wanted to look when he met his hopefully future girlfriend's parents.
Her father acted full of himself, as though everyone was beneath him. Ryan couldn't stand people like that.
When they got to Kelly's room Ryan borrowed a key from Vanessa and let Kelly's parents into her room. He didn't know what else to do. Vanessa hadn't seen her since Tina had calmed down Darren and Vanessa had fallen asleep on the couch. So Mr. and Mrs. Melendez spent the night in Kelly's room while Ryan bunked it out in the rec room, not wanting to miss Kelly when she got back.
He tried calling and texting her but she didn't pick up.

Kelly.

Comforting Darren took a while, even with the entirety of our group doing it. First we had to calm him down, which took nearly an hour as he was dead set on punching someone. Since he wouldn't hit a girl, that fell to Tina and I to try and work him out of that phase. She seemed to calm him better than I could, so I bowed out and went to find Vanessa. I headed out the rec room door, nodding at Nathan as I passed. He was the only one out of Boxing Beats to stay, as Charles had to do something with his family and Jamie had a date.
Vanessa had been on her phone the entire time that we'd been calming Darren, frantically whispering into it with furtive glances around her. She shut up as soon as I drew near to her, said something into the phone that sounded like “Wing it!” and snapped it shut.
“Hey!” She said brightly, flashing a fake smile. “How's Darren?!”
“Cut the crap baby doll, what's up?”
I went straight to the point. Tina and Vanessa had been sneaking around ever since they'd gotten here, vanishing for several hours, making weird phone calls and I'd walked in on them taking to Simon at least twice.
“It's a surprise!” Vanessa said brightly. “You'll find out soon enough!”
I groaned, unsatisfied. The worst kind of surprises were the ones that were anticipated. I absolutely couldn't stand those, and Vanessa very well knew that!
Vanessa skipped back into the rec room, and I followed. Conan and The Heartbreakers had long since left, and the last time I'd seen Ryan he'd been stepping off of left stage, looking happy about something.
I knew he was happy that Darren was going home, but he didn't have to be so stuck up about it. And yes, that was the only thing I could think of to describe him. He was acting like a high schooler.
I grabbed a water bottle and chugged it down, watching Tina and Darren on the couch. She was facing him, talking earnestly as he listened. He asked her something and she grinned, then pulled her phone from her pocket and handed it over to him. He put his number in, and then she did the same to his phone.
Vanessa was watching them too, giggling. They were cute, in a strange way. Tina seemed to go for more of a surfer dude type, or a cowboy. Not a tall rapper jerk who didn't have a filter.
Vanessa liked tall, dark and handsome guys with hidden secrets. Vanessa also reads a lot and believes in love at first sight.
I left to go find Niall. I knew he was in his room, and more than likely had food and I was starving. The stupid X Factor trainer decided to put me on a diet. (That lasted all of two minutes before I'd firmly told him that I could eat whatever the heck I wanted and he could do absolutely nothing about it.)
I walked into Niall's room, and called out for him.
“I'm in the shower babe!” He yelled from the bathroom. “I'll be out in a minute!”
“I'm eating your food!” I hollered back. I grabbed a bag of chips and jumped back onto his bed, kicking off my shoes as I did so. His bed was way more comfortable than mine, and I loved it.
The bathroom door opened and Niall walked out amidst the steam. In just a towel.
I cheekily checked him out, slowly looking from his head to his feet and back again.
He laughed at me when he realized I was checking him out. He so did that on purpose.
“Sorry, I forgot to bring my clothes in with me,” He said innocently. “Do you mind if I change out here?”
I giggled, and pretended to weigh the options in either hand. “Lets see,” I said, looking at my hands and moving them up and down. “Possibly see you naked” I raised my right hand a little higher than my left. “Or sit out here while you change and eat food.”
I brought my left hand way higher than my right and grinned up at him. “Sorry, food wins.”
Niall burst out laughing, grabbing his clothes out of the drawer. I lay back on the bed, assuming he was going to the bathroom to change. I sat up to grab his laptop from the side table and shrieked when I saw a very naked Niall, in the middle of pulling up his underwear.
I turned bright red.
Niall burst out laughing when he saw my horrified face and pulled his boxers up. I slapped my hands over my face in embarrassment and buried my head in his pillow.
The bed dipped down beside me and Niall's hand caressed my arms, moving my hands away from my still red face.
“What's the matter sweetheart,” He chuckled when I finally met his gaze. “Can't handle this?”
He gestured over his body, laughing. I tried to cover my face again, but he held my wrists gently against his chest to stop me.
“I think the problem is that I can handle that and I want to handle it very much.” I mumbled.
Niall sucked in a breath and went still. He released my wrists slowly, and I traced my hand along his bicep, my other hand going to his hair. It had turned serious in a matter of seconds.
“Uh,” He spoke finally. “Did you mean that literally or were you joking?”
I considered it.
I'd thought about having sex with Niall, of course. And that day in my room I knew we could have easily gone all the way if Natalie hadn't busted in.
Now was as good a time as any, right? I knew I loved him, I just hadn't told him in so many words.
Niall's eyes bored into mine, his thumb gliding along my bottom lip.
“Literally.” I said finally.
“Do you mean that?” He asked.
He seemed to get distracted by my hands tugging his hair lightly. I raised up a little and began to kiss along his jawline.
“Oh, I meant it.” I said. He shuddered when I kissed under his ear softly.
“Like, now?” He asked. “You want it now?”
I snorted. “Niall Horan if you don't shut up and kiss me right now I will make sure you will never be able to father children.”
Niall chuckled nervously, seeming to take my threat to heart. He then pressed his lips shakily to mine. His kiss was soft and sweet, and I had a feeling that if I didn't take the next few steps nothing would happen between us at all. I kissed him for a few moments, then I nervously broke the kiss and pulled my dress over my head and dropped it to the floor. That left me in just my underwear. Thank goodness I'd worn a matching set that morning.
Niall's eyes roamed over my body and he swallowed, clearly affected. I ignored the waves of insecurity and brought our lips together again, smiling when he slid his hand up my leg from my calf to thigh.
Niall's hands traced over the soft skin of my stomach and lower back, pushing his hips against me. I sighed and ran my fingers through his hair when he kissed along my jawline. He nipped softly and groaned, and I gasped.
Niall groaned again when I fisted his hair and brought his lips back to mine. That kiss was heated, his mouth slowly exploring mine at a languid pace.
I didn't want that. I didn't want him to be careful and slow with me.
I kissed him harder, and he responded just as easily. I soon realized he was waiting for me to set the pace.
Taking a deep breath, I reached between us and palmed him through his boxers.
Niall jumped and cursed softly, bracing himself with his arms above me and attacking my neck with kisses again with a renewed fervor. I pressed my hand against him again and he groaned.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” He asked. His voice was raspy, his accent thick. I kissed him again before answering.
“I'm sure.” I replied. Then his mouth was back on mine, and everything was a blur after that.
Niall more than made up for my lack of inexperience. Caught up in the thous of passion, he didn't seem to care that I fumbled a lot or made embarrassing comments. He seemed to find it endearing. He playfully tickled and kissed me, laughing when I stuttered over my words as he discovered what pleasured me.
I stayed with him all night, and halfway into the next morning. We'd slept soundly after we'd made love. He'd informed me that he was making love to me, not having sex with me just before he'd done the deed, leaving my head swimming with love for him.
If I had to describe it, I would say it had been perfection. Sure, there had been some awkward parts, and painful parts. But I wouldn't have changed a thing. Waking up to him was an amazing feeling. His arm around my waist, me slightly on top of his chest as he lay on his back. I'd awoken to his beautiful blue eyes looking down at me, a smile on his face.
Niall kissed me out of my reverie, flipping me over onto my back. “Do you really have to go?” He mumbled against my lips.
“Yes,” I sighed, kissing him lightly. “I have to workout, and prepare a song for tomorrow night and I have to find Tina and Nessi.”
Niall's lips trailed down over my neck. “Leave it all and stay with me.” He muttered. He was getting excited again, kissing me harder.
“No, Niall.” I said. He lay back on the bed and pouted. I kissed him one last time and made my way to his bathroom, wearing his robe.
I showered quickly, using the shampoo he had tucked in the corner of the shower stall. It was the same smell that permeated his hair, and I sniffed it deeply before I used it.
I put the dress I wore yesterday back on, as I couldn't wear his robe back to my room. Niall offered me a pair of his shoes to wear back to my room instead of my heels, but they were hopelessly too big on me, even with my larger than average feet.
I kissed him one last time and nearly skipped back to my room. I was sore, tired, and wearing yesterday's clothes but I was fairly glowing with happiness.
I started to insert my key into my lock but it was all ready unlocked. I frowned, knowing that I'd locked it yesterday. Light shone from the bottom of the door. I gulped. Someone was in my room.
I cautiously opened the door and walked in.
I immediately turned around and started to walk out, but a heavy hand on my arm brought me around to face the intruders.
“What do you want?!” I hissed, shaking the hand off my arms. I glared up into his face.
“Young lady, don't you take that tone with me!”
The one man I'd hoped not to see again was back.
My infamous father.

Simon Cowell was completely satisfied with himself. His record label was doing well, the X Factor UK 's ratings were sky high and the view count higher than ever before. He relaxed against the leather of his chair and propped his feet on his mahogany desk and sighed.
He owed it all to Kelly Melendez. She'd given him the idea to save the show, and he could never repay her. Well, he could certainly try. She currently had over six figures in a bank account he'd set up for her, to be given to her when she turned eighteen. And the numbers were growing weekly.
Simon crossed the room to the large white filing cabinet and pulled out the file describing the weekly shows. He had a list of music weeks to go, and how many had been completed. It also listed which contestants had gone home, and how many there was to go before the Top 3.
Simon glanced down the list, smiling at the ratings for each list. They'd never been better.
He checked over the music weeks, then stopped. He compared the other paper in his hand.
He crossed back to his desk and grabbed a blank piece of paper, writing all the music weeks down, then groaned.
He'd skipped Alternative music week.
Simon sat back in his chair and groaned. That meant that he'd have to start calling people, ask for another week on air. There was no way he could take out another week, he needed all of them.
He picked up his phone and started to dial, then paused when he heard loud voices and pounding footsteps outside his office door.
It flew open, and Simon startled, dropped the phone.
An extremely ticked off Kelly Melendez stomped across the hardwood floor and slammed her fists down on his desk, her face inches from Simon's.
“Yes?” Simon asked calmly. He knew what the girl was here for. He'd invited her parents to come see her on the show, even though she'd told him she didn't want her family there.
“How dare you!” Kelly hissed. “You despicable excuse for a man!”
Simon grunted, unaffected. “And why am I a despicable excuse for a man again?” He asked calmly. He picked the phone off of the floor and hung it up.
“One thing!” Kelly growled. “I asked you for one, tiny favor and you agree, then turn around and invite them here!”
She gestured behind her to the middle aged couple that were hovering in the doorway.
Simon stood, smoothing his shirt. “Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Melendez, am I correct?”
“It's Miss Sawyer now, I'm afraid.” Kelly's mother spoke. “And you're Mr. Cowell?”
Simon shook both of their hands as Kelly glared at the lot of them.
“Well, lets get down to business,” Simon said. “Have a seat.”
The dysfunctional family sat in chairs facing the desk, not looking at each other. Kelly was in the middle of her parents, looking extremely uncomfortable.
“First of all, I'd like to say that I wouldn't have called you two here unless I absolutely had to.” Simon spoke as he settled in his chair behind the desk. “Kelly asked me to keep her family out of the show, and I fully intended to respect her wishes.”
“Excuse me?!” Kelly's mother said indigently. “She asked what?!”
“I asked to keep you two out of the show.” Kelly growled finally. “I didn't want any unnecessary drama.”
“How dare you you vile little-” Mr. Melendez started. Simon interrupted him.
“Now I see why. I wouldn't have called you two at all, if the contract that Kelly signed didn't say that all immediate family have to make an appearance at least once during the live shows. So you two can stay for the week, be filmed, then leave next week. I have a hotel room booked for you a few blocks away.”
“And what if we don't want to leave?” Mr. Melendez growled.
“Then you will be forcibly removed from the premises. I don't care what you do after that.” Simon shrugged.
He saw that Kelly was trying to hide a smile and grinned to himself. So she was over her hissy fit.
“You-you can't do that!” Miss Sawyer sputtered.
“I can and I will,” Simon said. “I believe we're done here. Have a nice day, and goodbye.”
Kelly tried to hold in giggles as her fighting mad parents stomped out the door, then she burst into relieved laughter.
“Simon,” She choked out, “Sometimes I just love you.”
Simon relaxed and let out a breath. She'd calmed down, and all was well.
He relaxed so much he didn't anticipate the hard slap that brought his head left to right.
“You're not forgiven by the way,” Kelly snapped. “And I've been dying to do that for ages.”
She flounced out, slamming the door behind her. Simon brought his hand to his face, feeling the tender red skin.
She'd slapped him. She'd actually slapped him.
He started to laugh uproariously. He deserved that, and he knew it.
He picked up the phone and began dialing, chuckling.
He had work to do.
