Winthrope Abbey

Chapter 15

After the game, Emma went back to the house and locked herself in their room until she had finished her article for the Winthrope Abbey Star. She didn’t even go to the dining hall for dinner because she wanted to make sure it was absolutely perfect. When she had finished she read back over it and even made each of the girls read it twice; finally accepting the final product she headed up stairs to hand it in to Louis.

Knock. Knock.

She stood there waiting patiently for Louis to open the door. “Coming”, she heard from the inside. The door opened revealing a dark haired boy, who wasn’t Louis.

“I’m looking for Louis, is he in?” She questioned.

“I went down to the bathroom, but he’ll be back. Would you like to wait on him?” Answered the boy.

“If you don’t mind.”

“Not a problem. Come on in.” He said standing a side to allow Emma space to walk through the door. “Don’t mind the mess. We don’t get a lot of female visitors here.” He said with a smile.

“I’m Zayn by the way.”

“Emma. I work on the paper with Louis.” She said raising her hand with the article in it to show him.

“Oh. I thought maybe Louis had gotten himself a lady friend.” Zayn teased.

He wishes, thought Emma. “Nope, not a ‘lady friend’ just a fellow journalist.”

“Hopefully a good one at that.”

Emma turned around when she heard that to see a very wet Louis with nothing but a towel on walk through the door. She stared at him, not really expecting to see a nearly half naked Louis make his appearance.

“Enjoying the view, love?” He asked snapping her out of her stare.

“Umm. Here.” She said quickly handing him her article before leaving due to her embarrassment.

Zayn started laughing, “She seems to fancy you now, doesn’t she?”

“Well she certainly wasn’t looking away.” Louis said joking back.

Emma quickly walked back into the room slamming the door closed and leaning up against it.

“Something wrong?” Asked Charlotte as she sat cross-legged on her bed.

“Yeah, you seem out of breath. Did you go for a jog or something?” Added Sophia.

“I just had a very naked run in with Louis.”

“Naked?! You saw Louis naked?” Asked Juliet with a confused look.

“No not completely. He had a towel on.”

All of the other four girls looked around in confusion as they tried to understand what Emma was telling them.

“Wait start from the beginning.” Said Audrey.

“Okay, so you all know how I had to hand in my article by tonight?” Emma said.

“Yeah. You only made us read it like a billion times.” Exaggerated Charlotte.

“Well when I went up there to hand it to him he wasn’t there. Your boyfriend was instead.” Emma shot back.

“He is not my boyfriend.” Defended Charlotte, “We’re only friends. Nothing more.”

“Anyway apparently he and Louis are roommates and when I got there Louis wasn’t in Zayn was. He said I could wait on him while he was in the bathroom. Leaving out the detail that he was in there taking a shower, so when he walked back in he was in nothing but a towel.”

“What did you do?” Asked Juliet.

“What any classy lady would do…I stared at him too long then shoved the article in his hands and raced out of there.”

All the girls burst out laughing. “Oh Emma, I wish I could have been there to see that.” Said Audrey.

The Next morning Sophia was running a little behind from all the other girls, so she departed for class on her own. As she was walking down the path for school she heard her name beginning called from behind her. Knowing it was Harry who was calling her; she ignored him and kept walking.

“Sophia!” He tried again. He knew she heard him, so why did she keep walking?

“Sophia!” Still nothing. She tried walking a little faster even though once she got to the school she would be sitting next to him, but at least for now she could be on her own.

“Sophia!” This time he called her name right next to her. Damn those long legs of his, she thought.

“What do you need Harry?” She asked as though she couldn’t be bothered with him.

“Didn’t you hear me calling you?”

She shrugged and kept walking not looking at him when he spoke to her. Harry stopped, turning Sophia to face him.

“Are you still mad?”

“About what?” She asked even though she knew exactly what he was asking.

“About what?! Last night when…” his voice got lower in case anyone was around to hear them, “when I asked if you liked Eli. Are you still mad about it?”

She didn’t say anything. To be honest she was annoyed not mad. She didn’t really know why it isn’t like his question was really a big deal, but when it came to Harry she wasn’t sure about how much she wanted to open up to him. The answer was definitely yes when it came to Eli, which really wasn’t all too surprising considering all of her roommates knew; but as for Harry, she didn’t know how much she could trust him and maybe she got defensive about it he really didn’t need to know the answer.

Sighing she answered him, “Its water under the bridge Harry. Now let’s go to class.” Not waiting for a reply from him she started walking to the school. Leaving Harry behind wondering if she really meant what she said.

When Emma got to her first class, the Winthrope Abbey Star sat on her desk. Excited to read her article she turned to page she knew it would be on. Scanning over every section of it she spotted the headline, “Winthrope Abbey Wins First Game of the Season.” By Thomas Brett. What?!

She reread the name making sure she had read it correctly. When she had decided she had she began to read the article. None of it was hers. Not one word that she had worked so hard on appeared in that article. She sank down in her seat, refolded the paper and laid it back on the desk. How could he do this to her? Louis was the one who insisted she write about the game, so how could he have someone else write about it too?

She felt like crying, but decided against it knowing she would find no sympathy with the class of males she was in the presence of. Emma would just have to handle this later when she saw Louis after school at the paper. Oh and was she going to rip him a new one when she did.

“Poor Emma.” Charlotte said to Juliet who she shared her first class with. “She worked so hard on that article and it isn’t even in here.”

Juliet lowered her paper and looked over top of it at Charlotte. “Just wait it gets worse. Read Evelyn’s article on Sophia, she is going to freak when she reads that one.”

@ericajaine

This might be one of my favorite chapter's that I've posted so far. Oh and Evelyn is worse next chapter because the next chapter is the article she wrote about the play. She's less than nice in that.

Sorry I miss spoke it's the chapter after this one.

LOVE annoyed Harry ;)
