Love/Hate

Hayden's P.O.V.

I woke up to mom banging on the door. "HURRY UP BEFORE YOU'RE LATE FOR SCHOOL."

I got up and walked over to the boxes with my clothes in them. I took this and changed into it. I picked up my bag and put it on my shoulders. I picked up my phone and ran out the room. I ran downstairs and gave me mom a kiss. "Bye."

I ran out the front door coincidentally at the same time as Niall. "Hayden." He started walking over to me, but I put my head phones on and got on my skateboard leaving him there.

I skate down the street to the red light and stopped. "Come on." The light switch green and I took off. I skated down the sidewalk past people causing some of them to get mad.

I came to the street my school was on and skated straight there. I got to the sidewalk and stopped. I picked my skateboard up and walked inside receiving some stares from people who were still out front. I walked to my locker and opened it. I put my skateboard in and took out my history book. I closed the door and walked to class. I walked in and went to my seat next to Ashleigh.

I sat down and took out a pencil and notebook and waited for class to begin. The bell rang and Niall came walking into the room. "I'm not late."

"Whatever..So today you are going to get with you're partners and do a PowerPoint on any history you know of. This is going to be worth half your grade and it will be due next Thursday. Now go get with your partner." He stopped talking and everyone got up and went to their partner. I looked at Niall and got up. I walked over to him sat down.

"Let's just get this over with."

"Whoa, what's with the attitude?"

"Do you really want to go there?" I opened the textbook and started going through it.

"Yes."

"Fine. Why did you ask me out then go on a date with Ashleigh?"

"She asked to talk that's it, and plus you didn't give me a straightforward answer."

"So, that makes it right for you to do what you did?"

"No, it didn't."

"What ever I could find someone else?"

"What is that suppose to mean?" I ignored him and continued looking through the textbook. He got up and walked out of the classroom. Mr. Burnett and the rest of the class looked at me. "Why did Mr. Horan just leave?"

"He said it was a emergency." Everyone was looking at me including Ashleigh, Emily, and Spencer. I continued looking through my textbook and decided that we, I, would be doing the Boston tea party. I started reading on it when Mr. Burnett called me.

I got up and walked over to him. "Yes?"

"Do me a favor and see what Mr. Horan's emergency is for me please?"

"Sure." I walked out the room and started looking for him. I walked up and the hallways with no luck. One of his friends came up to me.

"Hayden, right?"

I looked at him, "Yeah." He had curly hair and green eyes, and I have to admit he looked really hot.

"I was wondering if you want to go on a date with me tonight?" I looked at him and he smiled at me.

I was about to give my answer when I saw Niall behind us at the end of the hall. "Sure."

"Great. I'll pick you up tonight around six."

"Okay." He walked away and I walked over to Niall. "So, Mr. Burnett wants you back in class."

"What did Harry want?"

"Oh, he just asked me out."

"And what did you say?"

"Yes." I looked at him intensively and I could tell he didn't like what I just said. "I'm sorry if that was not the answer you wanted." I turned around. " We should get back to class." And walked back to class.

I walked in and took my seat. Mr. Burnett got up and looked at me. "Did you find him?"

"Yeah, he's on his way back."

Just on queue Niall came through the door and looked at Mr. Burnett. "I'm sorry, sir."

"You better have a damn good excuse as to why left my class?" He walked over to him and crossed his arms.

"My ma said my grandmother is sick." He walked back to his seat and looked at me. "This conversation is not over."

The bell rang and I got up put my stuff in my bag and left. I walked to my locker and opened it. I put my textbook in it and closed it shut. The curly hair guy came up to me again, "So, how do you like the school so far?"

"It's interesting." I looked at him and he had a smile on his face. You could even see his dimples popping out. I started walking towards my next class. "So, you're Niall's friend, right?"

He caught up and walked beside me."Yeah."

"How long have you've known him."

"A couple of years."

"Oh." We walked up the stairs to the second floor. We turned left and headed down the hallway. "So, why did you want to go out with me?"

He looked at me and I saw he was struggling to say. It's as if he wants to say it, but he might feel embarrassed. "I thought you...were beautiful."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Uh huh." I got to my algebra class and turned to him. "This is me."

"No way, I have this class, too." He smiled and his dimples popped out again. We walked into the room and I walked to my seat. I sat down and he sat down in the desk next to me. "Do you mind if I sit here?"

"No."

He looked at me and I looked at him. Even though I don't really know him I feel like he's different. Niall walked into the class with Ashleigh beside him. They were laughing at something, but once his eyes landed on mine he stopped. I looked away and turned my attention to the front of the room. They walked to the back and sat in the desks behind us. The bell rang and the teacher came in, "Today you are going to do a partner activity, so pair up with the person sitting next to you."

I looked at Harry and he moved his desk closer to mine. The teacher came around the desks with envelopes and put one on each desk. "Once you get these you may start." She put one our desks and I took the problems out of the envelope. I did half and Harry did half.

Ashleigh tapped my shoulder and I looked at her, "What?"

"Are you two dating?"

"No." She looked at me unconvinced and I turned back around. I finished the problems and waited for Harry to do the same. He looked a little stuck on one so I looked over to help him. "You stuck?"

"Yeah." He tried to divided the answer he got by two, but it didn't work.

"Here." I took his hand and guided him on the problem. He got another and divided it by two, and this time it worked. "You get it?"

"Yeah thanks." I looked at him and he tried the last problem. I put my hand up and the teacher came over. "I think we got it."

She looked at the problems that were already finished and smiled. "Good job." Harry gave her the last problem and she checked it. She looked at him and smiled. "Good job, Mr. Styles."

"Thank you."

She took the envelope and problems and walked away. I looked at Harry and he had the biggest smile on his face. "Good job, Mr. Styles." I leaned over and gave him a hug. The bell rang signaling it's lunchtime. I packed my stuff up and flung my bag over my shoulder.

I walked out of the class and headed to the cafeteria. "Hayden, wait up." Harry ran by my side and grabbed my hand. "So, what are you about to do?"

"Go get lunch."

"Or we could go to outside and you could do tricks on your skateboard."

He looked at me with a pleading look on his face. "Fine. Let me get it out my locker."

"Okay."

We walked down stairs and went to my locker. I opened it and took out my skateboard. "Let's go." I threw my bag in and closed my locker and we walked out to the front entrance.

We walked outside and there were already crowds of people socializing with each other. I turned to him, "I don't think I can do this."

"You can...okay."

"Okay." I took off my jacket and walked down the stairs and walked into the street. I made sure no cars were coming before I walked further down near the auditorium. I looked at Harry and he gave me a thumbs up. "Here I go."

I started running and hopped on the board. I started skating down the street past Harry who was watching proudly. I did a kick flip and landed perfectly. I stopped and got off. "KEEP GOING!!!"

I got up on the sidewalk and started running. I hopped on and skated towards the crowd forming and Harry. I did a 360 and landed back on the board. I stopped and Harry came up to me. "You were amazing."

"Thank you." I looked behind the people and saw Niall standing there without Ashleigh. I walked over and stopped in front of him. "Can you help me out with something?"

"Sure." I took his hand and guiding to the handicap railing.

"Stand there." I positioned him at the end and ran back to the top. "Ready?"

"Yep."

I started skating towards him going lower so I could pick up speed. I got closer and closer until I got to where I wanted to be. I jumped off the board and did a front flip over his head. My board slide past his legs and I landed on it. I skated past him and threw my fists in the air. Harry came over and picked me up. "You did a good job."

"Thank you." I looked at Niall and he headed towards us. "And thank you, Mr. Horan."

"You were amazing."

"Thank you."

I looked at Harry then at Niall. I gave him a smile and next I know he kissed me. I pushed him off me and looked at Harry. He turned around and walked away. I turned to Niall and punched him in the arm. "WHAT THE FUCK?!!"

"What?" He said rubbing his arm.

"Why did you kiss me?"

"Because I got caught up in the moment."

"Ugh, you're so nerve wrecking." I picked my jacket up and put it on. I ran after Harry in the direction I saw him walk away in. I ran to the side of the school and saw him walking to the football field. "HARRY!!!"

He looked at me and continued walking. I ran up to him and tried to get him to stop. "What did I do?"

"Nothing." He continued walking towards the field.

I ran in front of him, "Then why aren't you talking to me?"

He stopped and looked at me. "I just need time to myself."

"Alright, but-" I took out a pen and grabbed his hand. "-if you still want to go on that date then text me with this number." I wrote my number on his hand and put the pen back in my pocket. I ran back towards the school leaving him there looking at his hand.

I grabbed my skateboard off the sidewalk and walked back inside and went to my last class for the day, which is English. Thank God Niall isn't in this class. I put my skateboard in my locker and took out my bag.

I flung it over my shoulder and went to class. I walked into the class and saw Spencer, and Emily sitting in the middle. I walked past the quickly and sat down in the back. "HAYDEN, HEY!!!" Spencer waved at me.

"Hi."

"Come sit next to us."

"I'm good."

"You sure?"

"Yep."

"Okay."

Mr. Wright came in and closed the door. "Good morning class." He walked over to his desk and took out the big book he makes people read from. "Today, Ms. Hastings will be reading." Spencer got up and walked to the front of the classroom.

She got up behind the podium and started reading the big ass chapter. I put my head down and thought about what just happened earlier. Harry was being so kind and sweet cheering me on while I did my tricks. Then, Niall had to mess that up and kiss me in front of him, and to be honest it wasn't that bad. Wait, what? Why would I say that? I mean, I don't like him anymore? This is some crazy shit.

~Dream~

I'm sitting on a chair at a restaurant waiting for Harry. I see a figure come in, but I couldn't make out who it was because this light was blinding the hell out of me. The figure walked over to me and sat down. They kissed my hand and looked at me. The light dimmed and it was Harry.

"Hi, Harry."

"Hi, Hayden."

"Why are we here?"

"Because you want me to." Niall suddenly appeared and I felt like I was going insane.

"Niall?"

I got up and walked out of the restaurant. Once I stepped out of the restaurant it felt harder for me to breathe. I put my hand against the wall and tried to walk.

"Hayden!!" Niall came out and chased after me.

"Hayden." He looked at me and saw how I was having trouble breathing.

"Hayden, look at me." I looked at him and he was looking at me worryingly. "Are you having a panic attack?"

I shook my head yes. "Okay." He lowered me down and sat me on the sidewalk. I started feeling lightheadedness and my vision started to become blurred.

"Hayden, look at me." My eyes were almost closed and I looked at him. He leaned forward and kissed me. My heart fluttered and it felt like a rampage of feels just bursted out. He pulled away and it was Harry again.

"Ms. Mitchell?" He asked.

"Ms. Mitchell?"

~End of dream~

"Ms. Mitchell?"

"HAYDEN!!!" Spencer yelled in front of me.

"What?" I looked up and saw the whole class laughing at me. I looked at Mr. Wright and he looked angry. "What did you say, sir?"

"I said do you know how many sonnets Shakespeare wrote?"

"One Hundred and fifty four, sir."

"Good...now pay attention."

He continued writing on the board, and I looked at Spencer and Emily. "What happened?" She mouth.

"I fell asleep."

They turned around and I sunk in my chair in embarrassment. The bell rung and I quickly packed my shit up and ran out of there. I walked to my locker and opened it. I took out my skateboard and closed my locker.

"HAYDEN!!" I saw Niall, Ashleigh, Emily, and Spencer wave at me. They started walking towards me and I ran out of the school. I looked behind me and saw them running after me. I hopped on my skateboard and skated home.

I got to my house and saw Mom's car in the driveway. I really didn't need here down my back, so I decided to sneak in. I walked to the side of the house and climbed the tree, that just so happened to be outside me and Niall's room.

I opened the window and quietly climbed in. I set the skateboard down carefully and took off my jacket and shoes. I climbed in bed and closed my eyes.
